The SKF 6204 -2Z/C3 deep groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 20x47x14 mm, sheet metal end shields on both sides and a C3 clearance, offers a robust solution for rotating shafts.
The SKF 6204 -2Z/C3 single-row deep groove ball bearing primarily absorbs radial forces whilst also supporting axial loads in both directions. With a 20 mm bore, an outer diameter of 47 mm and a width of 14 mm, this rolling bearing complies with established dimensions in mechanical engineering. The outer ring, inner ring and rolling elements are made of standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). A sheet steel cage guides the balls evenly into the deep raceways.
The design is particularly suitable for rotating applications with moderate to high speeds where protection against dirt particles is required. The integrated gap seals help to keep solid particles out of the raceway area. As the roller bearing is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees, it can be used in thermally demanding operating environments.
The -2Z/C3 design combines non-contacting metal cover plates with increased radial bearing clearance. The Z-plates on both sides keep out coarse dust without generating additional friction or frictional heat at the sealing lips. This ensures that the bearing continues to run smoothly. The designation C3 indicates a larger radial clearance. This clearance serves to compensate for thermal expansion when the bearing heats up or for tight fits.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 20 mm, an outside diameter of 47 mm and a width across flats of 14 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a groove nor a flange.
The abbreviation -2Z refers to cover discs made of profiled sheet steel fitted on both sides. These gap seals protect the raceway system from coarse dirt particles. As the discs do not come into contact with the inner ring, no additional frictional torque is generated at the sealing surfaces.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with standard bearings. This design prevents the rolling elements from seizing up if the shaft heats up during operation or if the interference fits cause the inner ring to expand.
The roller bearing from the Explorer series is manufactured to defined tolerances: its dimensional accuracy complies with tolerance class P6, whilst its running accuracy is to class P5. This ensures smooth, low-vibration operation.
The deep-groove ball bearing is specified for continuous operation between -20 and +120 degrees. Within this temperature range, the rolling elements, the sheet steel cage and the lubrication system retain their functional properties.
