The SKF 6030 single-row deep groove ball bearing, measuring 150x225x35 mm, offers a robust solution for high radial loads in open-type applications.
The 6030 deep groove ball bearing is an open radial rolling bearing designed for demanding shaft support applications in mechanical engineering. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6), this single-row design primarily accommodates radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. A sturdy sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly into the deep raceways of the inner and outer rings. Designed for operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +120 degrees, the component is suitable for industrial environments subject to thermal stress.
Design engineers and maintenance technicians primarily use the 6030 deep-groove ball bearing for heavy-duty shaft mountings subject to combined radial and axial loads in industrial drive systems. With an internal bore of 150 mm and an external diameter of 225 mm, the bearing stabilises heavy rotating shafts. The open design allows for the unrestricted exchange of lubricants in the oil or grease circuit. As a result, the bearing operates with low friction even at high speeds, provided that the surrounding housing design effectively prevents the ingress of dirt and moisture.
Compared with sealed variants, the open design allows for direct lubrication via the centralised lubrication system. You are free to select the type and quantity of lubricant to suit the operating conditions of your system. As there are no abrasive sealing lips to generate frictional heat, the component achieves high limiting speeds whilst maintaining low torque resistance. When designing the assembly, ensure that external sealing elements, such as shaft seals, are fitted to the housing to keep the lubricant within the bearing chamber.
A single-row radial ball bearing in tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), which primarily accommodates radial forces and axial guidance forces. Manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel, it features a cylindrical outer ring without a flange and a sheet steel cage. The open design, without integrated seals, allows for direct lubrication via the machine’s lubrication circuit.
The ball bearing has a bore of 150 mm, an outer diameter of 225 mm and a width of 35 mm. These standardised dimensions ensure that the component fits precisely onto shafts of the corresponding diameter in housings without axial flange grooves.
The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the manufacturing-related radial play of the rolling elements between the inner and outer rings when the bearing is in its unassembled state. This standard value is designed for typical fits and normal operating temperatures, to ensure smooth, jamming-free operation once the bearing has been pressed onto the shaft.
Open bearings do not come with a factory-fitted grease reservoir and require lubrication during assembly. Depending on the operating conditions, either rolling-element bearing greases or continuous oil circulation lubrication within the housing may be suitable. It is important to use a clean lubricant, as open bearings are sensitive to the ingress of particles.
The permissible temperature range is from -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. The dimensional stability of the roller bearing steel and the sheet steel cage is maintained within this range. When designing the bearing, you must ensure that the lubricant used is also suitable for this temperature range.
The sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements at a uniform distance so that the balls do not come into contact with one another during rotation. The lightweight construction results in minimal moments of inertia and proves to be resistant to common industrial oils and greases within the permissible operating temperatures.
