The SKF 6020-2Z deep groove ball bearing, with a 100 mm bore and cover plates on both sides, provides effective protection for rotating shafts.
This single-row deep groove ball bearing 6020 -2Z is designed for combined loads acting predominantly radially on the shaft. The construction, made from standard rolling bearing steel 100Cr6, also accommodates axial forces in both directions. Thanks to its manufacture in the SKF Explorer performance class, this design offers consistent running accuracy. The bearing has the following key dimensions: a bore diameter of 100 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width of 24 mm.
The rolling bearing is used in general mechanical engineering for shaft mountings subject to radial and axial loads. Thanks to the cylindrical outer ring without a groove or flange, the bearing can be fitted directly into cylindrical housing bores. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements smoothly and with low vibration. With a permissible temperature range of –20 to +120 degrees Celsius, the bearing is suitable for typical operating environments in industrial drive technology.
The sheet metal end plates on both sides protect the interior from coarse dirt particles without generating additional friction or abrasive forces at the sealing lips. This makes the variant suitable for higher speeds and protects the bearing from particle ingress. Furthermore, the tighter dimensional accuracy of tolerance class P6, combined with standard running accuracy PN, facilitates the selection of a precise fit on the 100 mm shaft and within the housing.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 100 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width of 24 mm. These dimensions correspond to the standardised main dimensions for single-row radial deep-groove ball bearings and allow for precise installation in suitable housings and on corresponding shafts.
The suffix -2Z denotes cover discs made from profiled sheet steel, fitted on both sides. These discs form a non-contact sealing gap with the inner ring. They keep out dust and foreign particles and minimise grease leakage without generating any braking friction torque at the sealing edges.
The roller bearing is designed with standard radial clearance. This radial clearance between the balls and the raceways is sufficient for standard fit combinations and normal operating temperatures. It helps to ensure that the bearing is not subjected to radial stress once it has been mounted on the shaft.
The permissible operating range is between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius. This range is limited by the material of the cover plates and the lubricant specification. For applications where temperatures are consistently outside this range, separate lubricants or special sealing materials are required.
The P6 specification denotes a tighter dimensional accuracy for bores and outside diameters than the standard tolerance. It allows for tighter bearing fits on the shaft and in the housing, which minimises unwanted play. The running accuracy corresponds to standard class PN and ensures consistent concentricity during operation.
With this design, which is covered on both sides, additional initial lubrication prior to installation is not usually necessary. The two metal cover plates seal the lubricant inside the bearing. Washing out the lubricant or re-greasing prior to assembly would compromise the protective effect of the metal covers.
