Deep Groove Ball Bearings SKF 6014

The SKF 6014 deep groove ball bearing accommodates both radial and axial loads and, with dimensions of 70x110x20 mm, offers high running accuracy.

The 6014 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing for industrial shaft mountings. Manufactured as an open design in the SKF Explorer performance class, this design is suitable for lubrication systems using oil or grease. The rings and rolling elements are made from standard rolling-bearing steel 100Cr6. A sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly in the deep raceways. With standard radial clearance and an outer ring without a flange or groove, the bearing can be fitted directly into cylindrical housing bores.

What loads and speeds can the 6014 deep-groove ball bearing handle?

Design engineers primarily use this size in drive shafts, gearboxes and electric motors. The bearing mainly absorbs radial loads and guides the shaft axially in both directions. Thanks to its open design, lubricant reaches the raceways unhindered, which dissipates heat quickly. As there are no sealing rings to generate friction, the bearing operates with low losses even at higher speeds. It covers a thermal operating range from –20 to +120 degrees.

What are the advantages of tolerance class P6 during assembly?

This model meets the specifications of tolerance class P6 or ABEC 3 and has tighter dimensional and running tolerances than standard bearings. For users, this means improved concentricity and reduced vibration in the shaft supported by the bearing. Bearing seats on the shaft and housing must be precisely machined to take full advantage of this accuracy. In the case of open roller bearings, an external housing seal also keeps out dirt particles.

What are the dimensions of the 6014 deep-groove ball bearing?

This roller bearing has an inside diameter of 70 mm, an outside diameter of 110 mm and a width of 20 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a ring groove nor a flange, which means it can be fitted into smooth housing bores.

What does tolerance class P6 mean for this rolling bearing?

P6 corresponds to the US ABEC 3 standard and specifies tighter manufacturing tolerances for bore, outer diameter and concentricity than the standard class. This higher precision reduces imbalance and vibration during operation, which has a positive effect on noise levels and the service life of the surrounding components.

Why isn’t the 6014 deep-groove ball bearing sealed?

Open roller bearings do not have integrated seals or cover plates, in order to minimise friction losses and allow lubricating oil or externally supplied grease to flow in. In this design, protection against contaminants and moisture is provided by the surrounding machine housing, for example by means of radial shaft seals.

What is the significance of the standard bearing clearance?

The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the factory-set radial clearance in the unloaded state, without a sign. It is dimensioned such that, after being pressed onto a cylindrical shaft, sufficient operating clearance remains under normal operating conditions to prevent the rolling elements from seizing.

What is the permissible operating temperature range for the 6014 deep-groove ball bearing?

The permissible operating range is between -20 and +120 degrees. The components made from 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. The temperature suitability of the selected lubricant is crucial for continuous operation.

What material is the cage made of?

SKF equips this variant with a guided sheet steel cage. This component is characterised by its low weight and high strength. It maintains an even spacing between the balls and can withstand shock loads in industrial applications.
