The 6011 deep-groove ball bearing from FAG Wälzlager, with dimensions of 55x90x18 mm, features an open design for radial loads in mechanical engineering.
The 6011 deep-groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing with deep raceways, designed primarily to accommodate high radial forces. In addition, this design accommodates axial forces in both directions. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, this machine component is characterised by its strength and dimensional stability in continuous industrial operation. The bearing has a cylindrical outer ring without a flange or ring groove and complies with tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1).
Typical applications for this rolling bearing include bearing arrangements with rotating shafts and drives with a shaft diameter of 55 mm. As it is an open bearing without integrated sealing washers, the component operates with low friction within the machine’s direct lubrication circuit. Designs with an external lubricant supply utilise this configuration, as the lubricant can reach the balls and the sheet steel cage unhindered.
When installing this open version, external seals in the bearing housing must prevent the ingress of dirt and moisture and retain the lubricant within the bearing chamber. The product is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance, which corresponds to standard operating conditions. The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees. When designing the housing and shaft, the outer diameter of 90 mm and the width of 18 mm must be taken into account.
The component has a 55 mm bore for the shaft, an external diameter of 90 mm and a width of 18 mm. These standardised dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely into cylindrical housing bores in conventional mechanical engineering.
Standard radial bearing clearance refers to the factory-set radial clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways when the bearing is unmounted. This clearance serves to compensate for temperature-induced expansion during operation, as well as for the constriction caused by the press fit onto the shaft and housing.
Open roller bearings do not have their own cover plates or sealing rings and are suitable for applications where the housing is sealed externally. They offer minimal friction and allow for a continuous supply of lubrication via circulating oil or regular relubrication within the machine housing.
The operating range for this model is from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. Both the 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the sheet steel cage are designed for use within this temperature range.
The bearing rings and the rolling elements are made of standard 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel, which has high fatigue strength. The balls are guided by a sheet steel cage, which maintains a uniform spacing between the rolling elements.
The bearing complies with the P0/PN tolerance standard, which is also known internationally as ABEC 1. This class meets the standard accuracy requirements for standard industrial applications in general mechanical and plant engineering.
