With dimensions of 17x35x10 mm, the FAG 6003 deep-groove ball bearing offers a compact rolling bearing solution for radial and axial loads.
This single-row FAG 6003 deep-groove ball bearing is made from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel and is suitable for a wide range of applications in mechanical engineering. With an inside diameter of 17 mm, an outside diameter of 35 mm and a width of 10 mm, the component supports rotating shafts. The open design allows for direct lubricant supply within the system. Thanks to its manufacture to standard tolerance P0/PN or ABEC 1, the component can be integrated precisely into standardised housings.
Designs primarily use this rolling bearing to accommodate radial forces as well as moderate axial forces in both directions. Typical applications include compact drive systems and mounted shafts in general mechanical engineering. As the bearing is open on both sides, it is recommended for use in protected installation spaces with an existing lubrication supply, such as an oil bath. The permissible temperature range is from –20 to +150 degrees Celsius.
In the open variant without integrated sealing discs, the lubricant reaches the rolling elements and raceways unimpeded. This promotes low friction losses and supports high rotational speeds compared to contact-sealed bearings. At the same time, this design requires the bearing location to be protected against dirt and moisture by the customer. The built-in sheet steel cage keeps the balls spaced apart. Under normal operating conditions, the standard radial bearing clearance ensures a balanced fit between the shaft and the housing.
The main dimensions are a bore diameter of 17 mm, an external diameter of 35 mm and a width of 10 mm. Thanks to these standardised dimensions, the component fits into standard bearing seats and can be replaced directly during repairs or new designs.
In this design, there are no integrated cover plates or sealing washers on the end faces. Grease or lubricating oil from the surrounding machine housing can circulate freely around the rolling elements. An external housing seal is required to keep out contaminants.
Normal radial bearing clearance refers to the standard factory-set clearance between the inner ring, the balls and the outer ring when the bearing is unmounted. This clearance compensates for thermal expansion during operation and fit allowances within the normal temperature range, without causing the rolling elements to become stressed.
The manufacturer specifies the permissible temperature range as -20 to +150 degrees Celsius. The material properties of the 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the sheet steel cage remain dimensionally stable within this range, provided that the lubricant used is suitable for the respective operating temperature.
This classification corresponds to the conventional standard accuracy class for industrial roller bearings. It defines permissible dimensional, geometric and running deviations for the outer diameter, the bore and the radial run-out, which ensures a reliable fit in conventional assemblies.
