The 16052 deep-groove ball bearing from FAG Wälzlager is a single-row, open heavy-duty bearing measuring 260 × 400 × 44 mm, providing a robust guidance system for heavy-duty industrial applications.
The single-row deep-groove ball bearing 16052 primarily absorbs radial forces and also supports axial loads in both directions. Thanks to its cylindrical outer ring without a groove or flange, this rolling bearing can be fitted precisely into flat housing bores. As an open variant, the component is designed for applications where lubricants are supplied via the installation environment. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, the rings and rolling elements offer high dimensional stability during operation.
This rolling bearing is typically used in heavily loaded large-scale bearing arrangements in mechanical engineering and plant construction. With a bore of 260 mm, it is particularly suitable for large-diameter shafts. The design is suitable for operating conditions where an internal lubrication system is provided. The absence of integrated seals means there are no additional friction losses, which helps to maintain the efficiency of the drive train.
The built-in sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements in an orderly manner and keeps the bearing’s own weight low in relation to its size. At the same time, the open design allows the lubricant to circulate unhindered. This makes it easy to replace the lubricant at maintenance intervals or to filter it via centralised circulation systems. The standard radial bearing clearance ensures that, once the bearing has been correctly pressed onto the shaft with the appropriate operating clearance, it will run correctly provided there are no unusual temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
A single-row large-diameter bearing with a slender cross-section relative to the shaft diameter of 260 mm. This FAG rolling bearing combines solid rings made from standard rolling bearing steel with a lightweight sheet steel cage and is designed to withstand radial and moderate axial loads.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 260 mm, an outside diameter of 400 mm and a width of 44 mm. These metric dimensions allow it to be fitted onto heavy-duty drive shafts whilst maintaining a slim housing cross-section. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a groove.
As an open-type bearing, this roller bearing is designed for applications that utilise external sealing systems within the housing. The absence of abiding sealing lips keeps friction to a minimum, thereby reducing heat build-up during operation. Furthermore, fresh lubricant can flow unimpeded through the rolling element tracks.
The permissible operating range is between -20 and +150 degrees Celsius. The 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability within this range. The lubricant used and the external housing seals must be designed to withstand the actual operating temperatures encountered.
This radial bearing clearance as supplied is designed for standard installation conditions. It takes into account the reduction in clearance caused by the elastic expansion of the inner ring when fitted onto the shaft, ensuring that free concentricity without jamming is maintained during operation.
This classification covers the standard level of accuracy typically required for rolling bearings in industrial applications. It defines the permissible deviations for bore diameter, outer diameter and radial run-out. This tolerance class is sufficient for standard requirements and permits installation in bearing seats manufactured in accordance with the relevant standards.
