The FAG 16013 deep-groove ball bearing, with its compact dimensions of 65 × 100 × 11 mm, is designed primarily to accommodate radial forces in confined spaces.
The FAG 16013 deep-groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing with a 65 mm bore, an outer diameter of 100 mm and a narrow width of 11 mm. Both the rings and the rolling elements are made of standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6). Thanks to its low cross-sectional height, this bearing is suitable for designs where there is limited axial installation space. As an open bearing, it can be flexibly integrated into enclosed machine housings with a separate lubrication circuit.
Design engineers and maintenance personnel primarily use the 16013 deep groove ball bearing for radially aligned loads and to accommodate axial forces in both directions. Typical applications can be found in general mechanical engineering, in gearbox stages or in shaft bearings with a very limited housing width. As the outer ring has neither a flange nor a groove, the bearing is fitted flush into smooth housing bores. A clean installation environment is essential for low-friction operation, as external contaminants can reach the exposed rolling elements unhindered.
The integrated sheet steel cage maintains the rolling elements at a uniform distance and prevents the balls from rubbing against one another. The open design without sealing washers allows lubricating oil or grease to pass freely directly to the contact surfaces. The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees. Together with the standard radial bearing clearance and tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), this FAG design is suitable for standardised shaft seats and normal thermal operating conditions.
The 16013 deep-groove ball bearing has an inside diameter of 65 mm, an outside diameter of 100 mm and a width of 11 mm. With these dimensions, the bearing requires little axial installation space for a given shaft diameter compared with wider versions.
An open bearing has neither cover plates nor sealing washers on its end faces as supplied ex works. Lubricant can reach the rolling elements unhindered, which is why this design is usually used in enclosed gearboxes or with external seals. Furthermore, the condition of the lubricant can be checked directly during maintenance work.
This roller bearing is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +150 degrees. The 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. When selecting the grease or oil, you must ensure that the lubricant is approved for the same operating temperature.
The cage, made of pressed sheet steel, keeps the balls at a defined distance from one another and ensures an even distribution of the load. It is characterised by its low weight, takes up little space inside the bearing and can easily withstand operating temperatures of up to +150 degrees.
The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the radial clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways when the bearing is unmounted. It is designed to ensure reliable rolling operation once the bearing has been pressed onto suitable shaft seats under normal operating temperatures.
Tolerance class P0 corresponds to the ABEC 1 classification. It defines the specified standard tolerances for dimensional accuracy, radial runout and axial runout of the inner and outer rings. For standard industrial applications in mechanical engineering, this accuracy class meets the functional requirements for bearings.
