The FAG 16010 single-row deep-groove ball bearing, with its compact dimensions of 50 × 80 × 10 mm, offers a particularly narrow design for radial loads.
The 16010 deep-groove ball bearing is an open rolling bearing from the narrow 160 series, manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6). It has a bore of 50 mm, an outside diameter of 80 mm and a width of just 10 mm. The inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements are made from standard bearing steel. A sturdy sheet-steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly along the raceway. This FAG bearing is suitable for designs requiring a small radial installation space for a given shaft diameter.
Design engineers primarily use this 16010 deep groove ball bearing where the installation space in the axial direction is severely limited. Thanks to its narrow width of 10 mm, the bearing saves valuable space and reduces the weight of rotating assemblies. The single-row design primarily absorbs radial forces and supports shafts even under light axial forces. Typical applications include compact bearing arrangements in general mechanical engineering, where the bearing is integrated into a protected housing.
As this model has no integrated cover or sealing washers, lubricants have unhindered access to the raceways. They connect the bearing directly to an existing oil circulation lubrication system or external grease filling. At the same time, the open design requires a clean installation environment to prevent foreign particles or moisture from entering the raceways. The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees. The standard radial bearing clearance ensures uniform concentricity to tolerance class P0 at normal operating temperatures and with standard fits.
This roller bearing has an inside diameter of 50 mm, an outside diameter of 80 mm and a width of 10 mm. Due to its narrow width in relation to its outside diameter, it belongs to the narrow series and is particularly suitable for space-saving designs.
In an open design, there are no cover plates or sealing washers fitted by the manufacturer. Lubricants such as oil or grease can come into direct contact with the rolling elements and raceways. The user must protect the bearing housing from dirt and moisture via the surrounding casing and ensure that it is properly lubricated.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees. This temperature range covers numerous applications in standard industrial and workshop environments, provided that the lubricant used is approved for these limits.
The sheet steel cage separates the individual rolling elements from one another, prevents them from coming into contact and ensures even load distribution during operation. The material is characterised by its dimensional stability combined with low weight and is resistant to common mineral-based lubricants.
Normal radial bearing clearance (standard clearance) refers to the manufacturing-related radial clearance between the rings and balls when the bearing is unloaded. Once the bearing has been pressed onto the shaft and into the housing, this clearance is reduced, promoting low-friction operation under normal thermal operating conditions.
The bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. This standard defines the permissible dimensional and runout tolerances for common industrial applications and ensures a dimensionally accurate fit on ground shafts and in precision-turned housing bores.
