The SKF 6309-Z deep groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 45 × 100 × 25 mm, absorbs radial forces and provides protection against dirt particles on one side.
The SKF 6309-Z deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing made from 100Cr6 bearing steel. With an inner diameter of 45 mm and an outer diameter of 100 mm, the bearing transmits moderate to high radial forces as well as axial forces acting from both sides. A sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly within the ground raceway. Thanks to its P0 tolerance class (ABEC 1), this roller bearing fits precisely into standardised housing bores and ensures low-vibration operation in industrial drive trains.
Maintenance engineers and designers prefer to use this design for bearing locations where one side of the housing is already supplied with lubricant. As the bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +150 degrees, it can cope with demanding thermal conditions in processing machinery. The 45 mm cylindrical bore allows for direct mounting on smooth shaft seats without spacer sleeves.
The suffix ‘-Z’ denotes a non-contact gap seal made of sheet metal on one end face. This design keeps dirt and solid particles out from the outside, whilst the open opposite side allows for unimpeded lubricant exchange with the interior of the housing. With the standard radial bearing clearance, the operating clearance remains stable at normal operating temperatures without causing unwanted seizing or increased friction torque.
The roller bearing has an internal bore of 45 mm, an external diameter of 100 mm and a width of 25 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has no flanges or ring grooves, meaning the bearing can be fitted flush into standardised cylindrical housing bores.
A sheet steel cover plate fitted on one side protects the interior of the bearing from coarse dirt particles without coming into contact with it. This design does not generate any additional frictional heat and, thanks to the open side, allows for continuous relubrication during operation.
The 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the sheet steel cage are designed for a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees. This makes the component suitable both for cool ambient temperatures during start-up and for elevated operating temperatures during continuous use.
This model is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance. This bearing clearance is designed for standard fits and balanced operating temperatures, where there are no extreme temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
A sheet steel cage maintains a uniform spacing between the rolling elements. The design is resistant to common lubricants and thermal stresses up to +150 degrees, and keeps the rotational mass of the rolling element guide low.
With tolerance class P0 (equivalent to ABEC 1), the manufacturing accuracy meets the standard requirements for general mechanical engineering. This enables straightforward replacement during maintenance, as well as a precise fit on dimensionally accurate shafts and housing seats.
