The SKF 4302 ATN9 double-row deep groove ball bearing, measuring 15x42x17 mm, offers a compact design for combined loads whilst ensuring smooth running.
The SKF 4302 ATN9 double-row deep groove ball bearing accommodates radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. Thanks to its two rows of balls, this design can handle higher loads than single-row bearings of a comparable size. Manufactured from rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6), this version is suitable for demanding applications in machinery and fixture construction. With a bore of 15 mm, an outside diameter of 42 mm and a width of 17 mm, the roller bearing fits into compact installation spaces.
Design engineers and maintenance technicians use this double-row design primarily where installation space for larger shaft diameters is limited, yet higher load-carrying capacities are required. Typical applications include compact shaft mountings with combined load directions. As this is an open bearing without integrated sealing washers, it operates with low friction. It is preferably used in sealed housings with an external lubrication supply.
The designation ATN9 indicates a polyamide cage that guides the rolling elements and reduces friction and noise during operation. The permissible temperature range is from –20 to +120 degrees Celsius. Thanks to the standard radial bearing clearance and tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), the component is straightforward to install. As no seals are integrated, the bearing location must be protected against dirt particles to prevent premature wear on the raceways.
With a bore diameter of 15 mm, an outside diameter of 42 mm and a width of 17 mm, the component has compact dimensions. The double-row design allows for a space-saving bearing arrangement whilst offering increased load-carrying capacity compared with single-row designs of comparable main dimensions.
An open bearing has no integrated sealing or cover rings. This means there are no additional friction losses at the sealing lips. To prevent the ingress of contaminants and avoid lubricant loss, the bearing location requires an external housing seal and a targeted lubricant supply.
The polyamide cage guides the rolling elements evenly along the raceways and keeps them separate from one another. The material reduces cage inertia and operating noise, and is designed for use in a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
Due to its design, this double-row ball bearing accommodates both radial forces and axial loads in both directions. The two rows of balls arranged side by side provide a higher load-carrying capacity than single-row variants with the same main dimensions, thereby ensuring that the forces acting on the bearing are distributed evenly.
The roller bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance and complies with tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1. This combination provides a balanced operating clearance for standard applications in mechanical engineering, without the need for special clearance groups or tighter tolerance classes.
Both the rings and the balls are made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). This material is characterised by high strength and dimensional stability, which ensures smooth operation within the specified temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
