The 6322 -M-C3 deep-groove ball bearing, with a 110 mm bore, brass cage and increased bearing clearance, ensures good concentricity under high radial loads and at higher operating temperatures.
The 6322 -M-C3 deep groove ball bearing from FAG is a single-row rolling bearing designed for heavy-duty industrial applications. With a bore of 110 mm, an outer diameter of 240 mm and a width of 50 mm, this bearing primarily absorbs high radial forces and also supports the shaft axially in both directions. Designed as an open bearing, its construction allows for free lubricant circulation within the housing and covers a wide temperature range from –30 to +200 degrees Celsius.
Industrial applications involving high radial forces and demanding thermal conditions constitute the field of application for this design. The combination of high-quality rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6) and the flangeless cylindrical outer ring enables the bearing to be mounted in suitable housing bores. By eliminating abrasive cover plates, the assembly operates with low frictional resistance during continuous running. The bearing must be integrated into the lubrication system of the overall plant, for example via an oil bath or by relubrication with grease.
The suffix ‘M’ stands for a brass cage. This cage material guides the rolling elements with low vibration and is suitable for high accelerations and shock loads. The designation ‘C3’ indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This additional operating clearance compensates for thermal expansion when the shaft heats up more than the housing during operation. In the case of tight fits, the C3 clearance helps to prevent the balls from seizing up during operation.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 110 mm, an outer diameter of 240 mm and a width of 50 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a ring groove.
The letter M denotes a brass cage that keeps the balls spaced apart. The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance, intended for applications involving a greater temperature gradient or tight fits.
The open bearing is specified for a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. In practice, the actual temperature limit depends largely on the lubricant selected and the conditions of the surrounding seal.
The open design allows lubricating oil to flow freely through the machine housing or enables targeted relubrication with roller bearing grease via the housing. Furthermore, the absence of abrasive sealing lips minimises the friction torque on the shaft.
The ring and rolling elements are made from 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel. The bearing cage is made of brass, which provides mechanical stability under demanding vibration and speed conditions.
This roller bearing complies with the specifications of standard tolerance class P0 or PN (comparable to ABEC 1). This level of precision meets the standard requirements for dimensional and concentricity accuracy in general mechanical engineering and plant construction.
