The 6318-2Z deep groove ball bearing from SKF Rolling Bearings, measuring 90x190x43 mm, offers robust performance for predominantly radial forces in industrial bearing applications.
The 6318-2Z deep-groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing in the Explorer series from SKF Rolling Bearings. The design accommodates high radial loads as well as axial loads in both directions. Manufactured from standard rolling bearing steel 100Cr6, this bearing is characterised by high dimensional stability and load-carrying capacity. The lubricant inside the bearing is protected by non-contact cover plates on both sides.
The main dimensions – with a bore diameter of 90 mm, an outer diameter of 190 mm and a width of 43 mm – are designed to withstand demanding mechanical stresses. The single-row bearing reliably absorbs radial forces and moderate axial loads. A sturdy sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements with low vibration at medium to high speeds. As the cylindrical outer ring has no flange or ring groove, the rolling bearing fits directly into cylindrical housing bores.
The suffix -2Z denotes two integrated sheet steel cover plates, which form a narrow gap to the inner ring on both sides. As these gap seals do not come into contact with the rotating inner ring, they do not generate any additional frictional heat, meaning the bearing remains suitable for higher speeds. At the same time, the covers effectively shield the bearing from solid contaminants. This design features standard radial bearing clearance (CN) and covers a permissible operating temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees.
With an internal diameter of 90 mm, an external diameter of 190 mm and a width of 43 mm, this model complies with standardised key dimensions. These dimensions allow for a precise fit in accurately dimensioned housing seats and shaft sections without the need for additional shims.
The designation -2Z indicates that metal cover plates are fitted on both sides. These gap covers protect the rolling element chamber from the ingress of solid foreign particles and retain the grease within the bearing without generating friction or heat through contact with the inner ring.
This design features standard radial bearing clearance (CN). This ensures the intended operating clearance between the balls and raceways under normal operating conditions and with standard fit selections, provided there are no unusually large temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
The permissible operating temperature range is between -20 and +120 degrees. These limits are determined by the thermal resistance of standard rolling-element bearing steel and the factory-applied grease filling under normal operating conditions.
A sturdy sheet steel cage keeps the balls at a uniform distance apart. This cage design prevents direct contact between the rolling elements and is suitable for typical vibration loads encountered in industrial mechanical engineering.
The component is manufactured to standard tolerance class P0 (or PN or ABEC 1). This accuracy class meets the standard requirements of mechanical engineering regarding concentricity and dimensional accuracy for cylindrical bearing seats.
