The FAG 6015-C3 single-row deep-groove ball bearing, with its increased C3 clearance and dimensions of 75 × 115 × 20 mm, offers reliable running characteristics under thermal loads.
The FAG 6015-C3 deep groove ball bearing is an open, single-row radial ball bearing to standard tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1). The rings and rolling elements are made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6. A sturdy sheet steel cage guides the balls evenly along the raceways. As it does not feature integrated sealing washers, this model is suitable for designs with external housing seals and targeted lubricant circulation within a temperature range of –20 to +150 degrees Celsius.
This rolling bearing primarily accommodates radial forces as well as moderate axial loads in both directions. Design engineers use the 6015 size primarily in rotating machine components and industrial shaft bearings with a shaft diameter of 75 mm. As there are no seals to create frictional resistance, the open design ensures smooth running. The bearing can be suitably incorporated into enclosed machine housings with continuous oil or grease lubrication.
The suffix C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance is required when temperature differences arise between the inner and outer rings during operation. If the shaft expands more than the housing, the increased radial clearance helps to prevent the rolling elements from becoming stressed. Tight fits on the shaft or housing also reduce the operating clearance after press-fitting, which effectively compensates for the C3 classification.
The bearing has a 75 mm bore for the shaft seat, an outside diameter of 115 mm and a width across flats of 20 mm. The cylindrical outer ring has a smooth finish, i.e. it is manufactured without a flange or ring groove.
The designation C3 indicates increased radial bearing clearance. The manufacturer has incorporated more clearance between the balls and the raceways than in standard bearings. This ensures that the bearing continues to operate smoothly even in the event of thermal expansion caused by operation or tight fits.
Open roller bearings have neither cover plates nor sealing plates. They do not generate any additional frictional torque at the sealing lips. The lubricant can circulate freely, which is why this design is intended for installation locations where the surrounding machine housing already provides a seal against dirt and moisture.
The ball bearing is suitable for use in temperatures ranging from -20 to +150 degrees Celsius. This thermal resistance is due to the combination of 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel and the heat-resistant sheet steel cage, which contains no heat-sensitive plastic components.
FAG manufactures this bearing to the standard tolerance class P0/PN, which corresponds to the international ABEC 1 standard. This precision class meets the requirements of general mechanical and plant engineering in terms of dimensional accuracy and concentricity.
This model features a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage. It maintains a uniform distance between the rolling elements and is characterised by its low mass and resistance to standard commercial lubricants.
