The SKF 6207-Z deep groove ball bearing, measuring 35x72x17 mm, features a single-sided sheet metal cover for targeted protection and access to lubricant.
The 6207-Z deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing made from standard rolling bearing steel (100Cr6) with a bore of 35 mm, an outside diameter of 72 mm and a width of 17 mm. Manufactured to tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), this design is suitable for a wide range of industrial applications. The rolling elements and rings are made of hardened bearing steel. A sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly within the deep raceway.
The bearing primarily absorbs radial loads on rotating shafts. As the groove design can also accommodate axial forces in both directions, the design is suitable for a wide range of bearing applications in mechanical engineering and gearbox construction. With a permissible temperature range of –20 to +150 degrees, the rolling bearing is designed for varying thermal conditions, provided that no electrical insulation is required.
The -Z variant features a single-sided cover plate made of sheet steel, which forms a non-contact gap seal. This protects the interior of the bearing from coarse particles, but does not generate any additional friction compared to sliding seals. The open opposite side allows for the direct supply of lubricant from inside the housing, for example in the case of oil-bath lubrication. The bearing has a standard radial clearance and a cylindrical outer ring without a flange.
This roller bearing has an inside diameter of 35 mm, an outside diameter of 72 mm and a width of 17 mm. These standardised key dimensions allow the bearing to be fitted onto suitable shafts and into cylindrical housing bores without the need for flanges or retaining ring grooves on the outer ring.
The ‘-Z’ designation indicates that the ball bearing is fitted with a single-sided sheet metal cover. This protects the raceway from dust and foreign particles without causing sliding contact or generating frictional heat. The opposite side remains open, allowing lubricant from an oil bath or grease chamber to flow freely into the interior.
The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the standard clearance between the inner ring, the balls and the outer ring when the bearing is in its unassembled state. It compensates for thermal expansion caused by operation and is suitable for standard fit conditions. For applications involving significant heating, it is advisable to check in advance whether a higher bearing clearance class is required.
The permissible operating range is between -20 and +150 degrees Celsius. The combination of 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel and the heat-resistant sheet steel cage ensures dimensional stability even under thermal stress. The lubricant used should be suitable for this temperature range.
Tolerance class P0 corresponds to the standard tolerance for standard rolling bearings in accordance with international specifications. It defines the permissible dimensional and running errors for the inner and outer rings. This level of accuracy is sufficient for the vast majority of industrial applications in general mechanical engineering and plant construction.
In addition to primary radial forces, this single-row bearing also accommodates axial forces in both directions. Thanks to the deep raceways in the inner and outer rings, the steel balls can transmit moderate axial loads. For applications involving predominantly high axial loads, axial deep-groove ball bearings should be considered as an alternative.
