Single-row deep-groove ball bearing 6017 -Z with an 85 mm bore and a single-sided Z-end cap for combined radial and axial loads in mechanical engineering.
The single-row deep-groove ball bearing 6017 -Z from FAG Wälzlager is characterised by its dimensions of 85 mm inner diameter, 130 mm outer diameter and 22 mm width. As a versatile rolling bearing made from standard rolling bearing steel (100Cr6), it primarily accommodates radial forces as well as axial forces in both directions. The version with a sheet steel cage and standard radial clearance complies with tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1) and is designed for a temperature range of -30 °C to +150 °C.
The 6017-Z deep groove ball bearing is suitable for industrial shaft mountings subject to combined radial and axial loads. It is recommended for installation locations where one side needs to be protected from dirt particles, whilst the open opposite side allows access for lubricant. Thanks to the flangeless cylindrical outer ring, the component fits precisely into standardised housing bores.
The single-sided cover plate, made from profiled sheet steel, forms a non-contact gap seal with the inner ring. It protects the rolling elements from coarse particles without causing additional friction or heat build-up during operation. At the same time, lubricant exchange remains possible via the open side of the bearing, which facilitates relubrication procedures in a sealed housing.
As a single-row radial ball bearing made from 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel with dimensions of 85 × 130 × 22 mm, this design features a single-sided sheet metal cover, a sheet steel cage and standard radial clearance. It is suitable for industrial shaft mountings that accommodate radial and moderate axial loads.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 85 mm, an outside diameter of 130 mm and a width across flats of 22 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a ring groove, which means the roller bearing can be fitted directly into cylindrical housing bores.
The suffix ‘Z’ denotes a cover plate made of sheet steel fitted on one side. It acts as a non-contact seal against coarse dirt particles and, unlike abating sealing lips, does not cause any friction loss. The open rear side allows for lubrication via the interior of the housing.
The permissible temperature range is between -30 °C and +150 °C. The robust sheet steel cage and the through-hardened roller bearing steel retain their dimensional stability within this range. For actual use, it must be ensured that the lubricant used is also suitable for these operating temperatures.
The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the defined radial clearance between the balls and the raceways prior to installation. It is tailored to standard shaft and housing fits, ensuring that, once fitted, the bearing runs smoothly and without play under normal operating conditions.
This roller bearing complies with tolerance class P0 or PN and thus meets the requirements of ABEC 1. This standard precision fully meets the requirements of general mechanical and plant engineering and allows it to be fitted into shaft seats with standard tolerances.
