The FAG 16006 -2Z deep-groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 30x55x9 mm, offers a particularly narrow design for compact applications.
The single-row deep groove ball bearing 16006 -2Z from FAG is designed primarily to accommodate radial forces as well as light axial loads. Thanks to its narrow cross-section, this model is suitable for designs with limited radial installation space. Manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel 100Cr6, this design is characterised by its dimensional stability. A sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly into the deep raceways. With tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), the component complies with current standards in mechanical engineering.
This design is used when only a limited mounting width is available on a 30 mm shaft. Typical applications include compact assemblies and drives with limited axial installation space. The sheet metal covers on both sides protect the bearing’s interior from coarse dirt particles. Thanks to its permissible temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees, the rolling bearing operates reliably in many industrial environments.
The suffix ‘-2Z’ denotes non-abrasive cover plates made of sheet steel on both sides of the bearing. Unlike abrasive sealing lips, these covers do not generate any additional friction, making the bearing suitable for higher speeds with low heat generation. The standard radial bearing clearance is designed to provide a defined operating clearance for the appropriate installation dimensions. For commercial users, this standardised product represents a reliable component for a wide range of applications.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 30 mm, an outer diameter of 55 mm and a width of 9 mm. With this narrow width, this design is suitable for narrow bearing seats. The outer ring has no flange or ring groove.
The designation -2Z indicates that sheet steel cover plates are fitted on both sides. These covers prevent solid particles of dirt from entering the bearing. As they do not come into contact with the inner ring, no additional friction is generated during operation due to grinding seal lips.
This model has the standard radial bearing clearance. This defines the radial clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways when the bearing is unmounted. This value is designed for typical operating temperatures and standard shaft and housing fits.
The permissible operating temperature range is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. Both the 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the sheet steel cage and metal end plates are designed for this temperature range.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 (corresponding to PN or ABEC 1). This accuracy class meets the usual requirements in general mechanical engineering and helps to ensure a dimensionally accurate fit on cylindrical shafts and in bores.
With a bore diameter of 30 mm and an outside diameter of 55 mm, the bearing is just 9 mm wide. Compared with wider rolling bearings of the same bore diameter, this narrow cross-section enables space-saving housing designs.
