The FAG 6036 -M-C3 deep-groove ball bearing, with a 180 mm bore, brass cage and C3 clearance, offers consistent running characteristics under demanding thermal conditions.
The FAG 6036 -M-C3 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing for shafts with a diameter of 180 mm. With an outer diameter of 280 mm and a width of 46 mm, the design is primarily designed to accommodate radial loads as well as moderate axial forces. As this is an open bearing without integrated sealing rings, the lubricant can be flexibly adapted to the specific operating environment. The component is made of standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6) and operates within a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees Celsius.
This design is suitable for industrial bearing arrangements subject to high radial forces, where shafts with a diameter of 180 mm need to be supported. In lubricated housing systems, the open design allows for the free circulation of lubricating oil or grease. As it is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN (corresponding to ABEC 1), the bearing complies with the standardised specifications for standard bearing seats under continuous operating loads.
The suffix ‘M’ denotes a brass cage which guides the rolling elements and retains its dimensional stability even under vibrations or higher rotational loads. The designation ‘C3’ indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This increased operating clearance serves to compensate for thermal expansion caused by heating during operation or dimensional changes resulting from tight fits. Before installation, check the ambient conditions to select a suitable external seal and the appropriate lubrication supply.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 180 mm, an outside diameter of 280 mm and a width of 46 mm. The outer ring has no flange or groove. These dimensions define the required installation space on the shaft and housing for standardised bearing seats.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. The increased operating clearance counteracts mechanical stresses when heat builds up during operation or when tight fits are selected. This helps to ensure smooth running even when there are slight temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
The letter M denotes the version with a brass cage. Brass is characterised by high mechanical strength and guides the rolling elements in the event of vibrations or impact loads. Furthermore, the material offers advantageous emergency running properties in the event of temporary lubricant shortages.
Open deep-groove ball bearings are supplied by the manufacturer without any seals or cover plates. This design allows for direct lubrication via an external lubrication system, such as an oil circuit or a central grease supply. At the same time, the absence of contact seals reduces friction; however, it requires the bearing housing to be sealed against dust and moisture on site.
The component is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. The standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 and the heat-resistant brass cage retain their dimensional stability within this range. Please ensure you select a lubricant that also covers this temperature range.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 (also known as standard tolerance PN or ABEC 1). This standard specifies the permissible dimensional, geometric and running deviations for the inner and outer rings and defines standardised fit tolerances for standardised bearing arrangements.
