The FAG 6232-M deep groove ball bearing, with a 160 mm bore, 290 mm outer diameter and brass cage, offers high stability for radial and axial loads.
The single-row deep groove ball bearing 6232 -M from FAG Rolling Bearings is an open radial ball bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. With an internal diameter of 160 mm, an external diameter of 290 mm and a width of 48 mm, the component primarily accommodates radial loads as well as moderate axial forces in both directions. Manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6), this large bearing is characterised by its dimensional stability and load-carrying capacity. The open design, without integrated sealing rings, allows for the direct supply of lubricants whilst the bearing is in operation.
The 6232-M deep groove ball bearing is particularly suitable for industrial bearing arrangements subject to high radial loads. In these applications, cylindrical shafts transmit considerable torques and require precise guidance. Thanks to its open design, the bearing can be connected directly to central oil or grease lubrication systems. This design is primarily used in enclosed housings where lubricant is already in circulation.
The solid brass cage (designation -M) guides the rolling elements stably within the raceways, even under dynamic loads and vibrations. Compared to sheet metal cages, brass is capable of withstanding higher mechanical stresses. As the component has no integrated seals, protection against foreign particles and dirt is provided by the surrounding housing structure. With standard radial bearing clearance and tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), this design meets standard industrial requirements for operating temperatures ranging from –20 to +150 degrees Celsius.
This roller bearing has a bore of 160 mm, an outer diameter of 290 mm and a width of 48 mm. The dimensional ratios correspond to the standardised 62 series for single-row deep-groove ball bearings. Before fitting, you should ensure that the bearing seat on the shaft and in the housing is precisely matched to these nominal dimensions.
The suffix -M denotes a solid brass cage which maintains a uniform spacing between the rolling elements. Brass cages offer greater strength than stamped sheet steel cages and perform well under shock loads or severe vibrations. They help to ensure stable guidance of the balls during operation.
The design without seals allows for direct relubrication via a housing system, for example through an oil bath or recirculating lubrication system. As there are no sealing lips to generate frictional heat, the bearing operates under favourable thermal conditions even at higher speeds. This requires a housing that seals the bearing chamber from the outside.
The permissible temperature range is between -20 and +150 degrees Celsius. Both the 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the brass cage are designed for these thermal conditions. When selecting the lubricant, you must ensure that its operating limits are compatible with the ambient temperatures of the respective system.
Standard radial bearing clearance refers to the manufacturing-related radial clearance between the balls and the raceways when the bearing is unmounted. This clearance compensates for the interference fit during press-fitting and for thermal expansion during operation. For applications with standard fits and uniform heating, this bearing clearance provides balanced guidance.
The bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0, which corresponds to the standard tolerance PN and the ABEC 1 classification. This class defines the permissible deviations in terms of dimensional, geometric and running accuracy of the bearing rings. It precisely meets the requirements of conventional industrial machine designs.
