The FAG 16100 -2Z deep groove ball bearing (10x28x8 mm) features sheet metal shields on both sides and standard bearing clearance for compact shaft mountings subject to predominantly radial loads.
The FAG 16100 -2Z deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a bore of 10 mm, an outer diameter of 28 mm and a width of 8 mm. The design features a robust sheet steel cage and does not require a flange or groove on the outer ring. Manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN (corresponding to ABEC 1), the design is suitable for standardised industrial applications within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
The design is primarily intended to accommodate radial forces, whilst the raceway geometry additionally accommodates axial forces in both directions. Thanks to its narrow width of 8 mm, the bearing is suitable for space-saving designs and compact shaft guides in general mechanical engineering. As the component has no electrical insulation, appropriate operating conditions must be ensured for bearing locations subject to electrical stress.
The suffix 2Z denotes non-contacting cover plates made of sheet metal fitted on both sides. These keep coarse dirt particles and foreign matter out of the bearing interior and help to retain the lubricant within the raceway. As the cover plates, unlike abiding seals, do not generate any frictional resistance on the inner ring, the torque remains low. The standard radial bearing clearance is designed for common fit specifications and balanced operating temperatures, thereby ensuring smooth running within the nominal dimension range.
With an internal bore of 10 mm, an external diameter of 28 mm and a width of 8 mm, the bearing has standardised key dimensions. These enable it to be fitted precisely into cylindrical housing bores and onto precisely machined shaft seats.
The designation 2Z (often referred to as ZZ) denotes two non-contacting gap seals made of sheet steel, fitted on both sides. They provide basic protection against the ingress of solid dirt particles without causing additional friction or excessive heating.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees. Both the sheet steel cage and the 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel used retain their dimensional stability and strength within this range.
The roller bearing is designed with a standard radial clearance. It is therefore suitable for applications with conventional shaft and housing fits, where there are no extreme temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
Manufacturing is carried out in accordance with tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to ABEC 1. This is the standard accuracy class for industrial applications in mechanical engineering and equipment manufacturing.
