The FAG 6412 deep-groove ball bearing is an open, single-row radial ball bearing measuring 60x150x35 mm, designed for demanding industrial applications.
As a classic rolling bearing, the 6412 deep-groove ball bearing primarily withstands radial loads and supports shafts even when subjected to axial forces acting from both sides. FAG manufactures this design using standard bearing steel 100Cr6 for the inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements. This material is characterised by high strength and dimensional stability under load. Fitted with a sheet steel cage and standard radial clearance, the component is suitable for a wide range of bearing arrangements in general mechanical engineering.
Due to its dimensions – a 60 mm bore diameter, 150 mm outer diameter and 35 mm width – this component is used in heavy-duty shaft bearings subjected to high forces. The deep raceway geometry promotes smooth running during continuous rotational movements. The single-row design supports assemblies where, in addition to radial forces, axial forces in both directions must also be accommodated.
As an open rolling bearing, this design does not feature any manufacturer-fitted seals or cover plates. Lubricants such as grease or lubricating oil are supplied directly via the housing design and can circulate freely. At the same time, this design requires a clean installation environment as well as external housing seals to prevent the ingress of dirt or moisture. Manufacture to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 meets standard dimensional and concentricity requirements. The permissible temperature range is from -20 to +150 degrees.
The main dimensions are 60 mm internal diameter (bore), 150 mm external diameter and 35 mm width. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a ring groove, which means the component can be fitted into smooth housing bores.
Open roller bearings do not have factory-fitted sealing lips or cover plates. This allows external lubricants to reach the raceways and rolling elements directly. To protect against contamination and lubricant loss, the bearing housing must be protected by external sealing elements such as shaft seals.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures between -20 and +150 degrees. This temperature range is determined by the heat resistance of the 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the sheet steel cage. The external lubricant used must be suitable for this operating range.
This component has the standard radial bearing clearance. Once pressed onto standard shaft seats, this standard clearance ensures a balanced operating clearance between the balls and raceways during operation, provided there are no extreme temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
P0 or PN, and the US designation ABEC 1, refer to the standard tolerance class for rolling bearings. It defines specified limits for dimensional, geometric and running accuracy that meet the requirements of most industrial applications.
