The SKF 6007 -2RS1/C3 deep groove ball bearing combines double-sided sealing protection with a slightly increased C3 bearing clearance, with dimensions of 35 x 62 x 14 mm.
The SKF 6007 -2RS1/C3 single-row deep groove ball bearing is a ready-to-fit rolling bearing for rotating shafts with a diameter of 35 mm. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel in the Explorer performance class, this design primarily accommodates radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. The design features a robust sheet steel cage and operates within a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. The P6 tolerance class ensures enhanced running accuracy of the entire bearing unit.
Design engineers prefer to use this deep-groove ball bearing in rotating machine systems and drives where thermal influences or tight fits are present. Thanks to the 2RS1 seals, which seal on both sides, the lubricant remains inside the bearing whilst dust, dirt particles and splash water are kept out. As the cylindrical outer ring has no flange or ring groove, the component fits flush into standardised mounting bores. The C3 bearing clearance accommodates thermal linear expansion during operation and counteracts stresses in the rolling element raceway.
The C3 designation indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance compensates for interference fits on the shaft or housing and helps to prevent seizing due to operational temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. At the same time, the 2RS1 seal, which makes contact with the bearing, provides mechanical protection for the bearing interior. When designing the system, bear in mind that the friction generated by the sealing lips affects the speed limit compared to open bearings.
The main dimensions are 35 mm for the internal diameter, 62 mm for the external diameter and 14 mm for the bearing width. These standardised dimensions allow for direct installation on suitable 35 mm shafts and in standardised housing bores in mechanical and plant engineering.
The suffix 2RS1 denotes contact seals fitted on both sides. The sealing lips come into contact with the inner ring and effectively protect the rolling elements against the ingress of particles and moisture, whilst the lubricant remains within the bearing.
The C3 bearing clearance provides greater radial clearance than standard bearings. This additional space compensates for radial expansion of the inner ring caused by tight fits. Furthermore, the clearance reduces the risk of stress build-up if the shaft heats up more than the surrounding bearing housing during operation.
The bearing is designed for an operating temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. This range is primarily determined by the elastomeric sealing material and the properties of the grease. Within these limits, the sealing lips retain their elasticity and ensure trouble-free operation.
The P6 tolerance class specifies tighter manufacturing tolerances in terms of dimensional, form and concentricity accuracy compared with the standard ‘Normal’ tolerance class. This promotes smooth, low-vibration operation of the shaft and facilitates precise guidance functions in technical drive systems.
The inner and outer rings, as well as the balls, are made from through-hardened standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6. A dimensionally stable sheet steel cage guides and spaces the rolling elements; it is designed to withstand high mechanical loads and continuous stress in industrial environments.
