The SKF 61900 -2Z deep groove ball bearing, measuring 10x22x6 mm, offers a compact bearing solution with sheet metal covers on both sides, ideal for slimline designs.
This single-row deep groove ball bearing 61900 -2Z from SKF belongs to the space-saving series with a narrow cross-section. With a bore of 10 mm, an outside diameter of 22 mm and a width of 6 mm, the component primarily accommodates radial forces as well as moderate axial forces. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, this version features a robust sheet steel cage and the standard radial clearance for rotating machine components.
Designs with limited radial installation space benefit from this design when the ratio between the shaft diameter and the housing bore is small. Typical applications include drives with compact installation dimensions or precision mechanical shaft bearings. The cover plates on both sides protect the lubricant inside the bearing whilst keeping coarse dirt and particles away from the raceway system. The permissible temperature range is from –20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The designation -2Z stands for two non-contacting cover plates made from profiled sheet metal. Unlike abiding seals, these gap seals do not generate any additional frictional resistance, which means the bearing rotates smoothly and temperature rise remains low. Manufacturing is carried out to tolerance class P0/PN (equivalent to ABEC 1) with a cylindrical outer ring without a flange or groove. For installation, it is recommended to position the bearing carefully without applying force via the rolling elements.
The dimensions are 10 mm internal diameter, 22 mm external diameter and 6 mm width. These values characterise the 619 series, which features a particularly narrow radial cross-section. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has no flange or groove.
The designation 2Z refers to cover plates made of sheet steel fitted on both sides. These shields form a sealing gap with the inner ring, protect the rolling elements from dust and coarse foreign particles, and retain the lubricant within the bearing. As they operate without contact, no additional frictional resistance is generated.
The component is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance, often designated as ‘CN’ by the manufacturer. This radial clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways is intended for standard installation situations and fits. It ensures balanced concentricity under moderate heating during normal operation.
The permissible temperature range is from -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. The components made from 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. A prerequisite for reliable operation is a lubricant that is specified for these operating temperatures.
The inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements are made from through-hardened standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). This material is designed to offer high wear resistance and fatigue strength under rolling loads. A robust cage made of pressed sheet steel is used to guide the row of balls.
The manufacturing process complies with tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to ABEC 1 in international terminology. This standard level of accuracy for dimensional and running fit is suitable for common industrial applications and contributes to reliable fit dimensions.
