The SKF 6311-2RS1 deep groove ball bearing, measuring 55x120x29 mm and featuring a ground seal on both sides, provides protection against contamination under radial loads.
The 6311 -2RS1 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing made from standard rolling bearing steel (100Cr6). The SKF design primarily absorbs radial forces, but also supports axial forces in both directions thanks to the deep groove geometry of the raceways. A robust sheet steel cage keeps the rolling elements spaced apart and guides them within the permissible temperature range of –20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
This rolling bearing is used to support rotating shafts in applications involving combined radial and axial forces. With key dimensions of 55 mm inner diameter, 120 mm outer diameter and 29 mm width, this design is suitable for stable bearing arrangements. The cylindrical outer ring has no flange or ring groove, meaning it can be fitted directly into a cylindrical housing bore.
The seals, which contact the bearing on both sides, shield the interior of the bearing against the ingress of dust, dirt particles and moisture, whilst retaining the lubricant within the bearing. Together with the standard radial bearing clearance and tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1, this design is intended for applications where operating temperatures are stable and no excessive thermal expansion of the shaft is to be expected.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 55 mm, an external diameter of 120 mm and a width of 29 mm. These standardised dimensions allow for direct installation in precisely machined bearing seats without the need for any structural modifications to the shaft or housing.
The designation 2RS1 refers to contact seals fitted on both sides. These sealing lips make contact with the inner ring, retain the lubricant inside the bearing and protect the rolling bearing against the ingress of dust, dirt and moisture.
This model features standard radial bearing clearance. The internal bearing clearance falls within the standard range and is intended for applications where standard fit conditions apply and there are no significant temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
The permissible temperature range is between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius. This range is determined by the interaction between the rolling bearing steel, the seal material and the lubricant, and covers operation under standard industrial environmental conditions.
A sheet steel cage is fitted within the bearing. The sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly along the raceways, is characterised by its dimensional stability and is suitable for continuous operation under varying loads.
The deep-groove ball bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0 (or Normal (PN)), which corresponds to ABEC 1. This class defines the standardised dimensional and running tolerances for a precise fit on cylindrical shafts and in housings.
