The FAG 6022-C3 deep-groove ball bearing, measuring 110 x 170 x 28 mm and featuring increased clearance, ensures stable operation under thermal loads.
The FAG 6022-C3 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel for demanding industrial applications. With a bore of 110 mm, an outside diameter of 170 mm and a width of 28 mm, this open bearing primarily accommodates radial loads as well as moderate axial forces. Thanks to its sheet steel cage and operating temperature range of –20 to +150 degrees, the component retains its dimensional stability. It complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
This bearing is suitable for shaft mountings with a diameter of 110 mm, where radial forces are transmitted and elevated operating temperatures may occur. As no sealing washers are fitted, liquid lubricant circulates unhindered between the rolling elements. This is particularly advantageous for applications with centralised oil circulation lubrication or enclosed machine housings. Design engineers use this design where the housing environment prevents the ingress of dirt and low friction losses are required.
The suffix C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional bearing clearance serves to compensate for operational thermal expansion when temperature differences occur between the shaft and the housing. It also cushions the expansion of the inner ring in the case of tight fits. When designing the application, please note that the open bearing must be protected against contamination by external housing seals, as no sealing protection is provided ex works.
The bearing has a bore of 110 mm, an outer diameter of 170 mm and a width of 28 mm. These standardised dimensions allow it to be fitted onto 110 mm shafts in cylindrical housing bores. Both the inner ring and the outer ring are flat, without a flange or ring groove.
Open deep-groove ball bearings do not have integrated sealing washers fitted at the factory. This means that, during operation, there is no frictional resistance caused by sealing lips rubbing against the bearing. Lubricants from the housing, such as gearbox oil, reach the rolling elements and raceways directly. Protection against contamination is provided by external housing seals.
The version made from 100Cr6 roller bearing steel with a sheet steel cage is designed for temperatures between -20 degrees and +150 degrees. The material retains its dimensional stability within this range. The choice of lubricant must be tailored to the actual operating temperature.
This roller bearing complies with tolerance class P0, also known as PN or ABEC 1. This standard tolerance meets the usual requirements for concentricity and dimensional accuracy in general mechanical engineering. It ensures a defined fit on standard shafts and in bearing seats.
FAG fits this bearing with a sheet steel cage. The cage keeps the balls evenly spaced and prevents the rolling elements from coming into contact with one another. Sheet steel cages are resistant to common lubricants and are suitable for operating temperatures up to +150 degrees.
An increased bearing clearance of C3 is selected when the inner ring expands more than the outer ring due to operating heat. Even with tight press-fit seats on the shaft, the radial operating clearance is reduced. Thanks to the C3 clearance, the bearing retains sufficient clearance even after assembly to ensure smooth running.
