The SKF 4214 ATN9 deep groove ball bearing, with two rows of balls and dimensions of 70x125x31 mm, offers increased radial load-carrying capacity for demanding shaft mountings.
The 4214 ATN9 deep groove ball bearing is an open, double-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6). The double-row design can withstand higher loads than single-row variants whilst occupying the same installation space. With a bore of 70 mm, an outside diameter of 125 mm and a width of 31 mm, this bearing is suitable for compact installation spaces. The open design allows for flexible use with on-site oil or grease lubrication.
This rolling bearing is recommended for shaft mountings where single-row designs reach their load limits. Typical applications include drives and mechanical components subject to high forces. Thanks to the raceway geometry, the bearing can accommodate not only high radial forces but also axial forces in both directions. The open design without seal washers is ideal for applications operating within enclosed housings and supplied directly via the system’s lubrication circuit.
The material polyamide (ATN9) is characterised by its low weight and good damping properties. As a result, the bearing runs smoothly and generates less friction than designs with solid metal cages. The permissible operating temperature range is from –20 to +120 degrees Celsius. Before installation, it should be noted that the bearing is designed with standard radial clearance and tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, and requires an external housing seal.
With an internal diameter of 70 mm, an external diameter of 125 mm and a width of 31 mm, the component fits into cylindrical housing bores. The outer ring has neither a flange nor a ring groove, which means the bearing sits flush.
The suffix ATN9 denotes a polyamide cage. This material is characterised by its low weight, dampens running noise and is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
Double-row deep-groove ball bearings have two rows of balls arranged side by side in separate raceways. This design increases the number of load-bearing rolling elements, enabling the bearing to withstand higher radial loads than a single-row ball bearing of the same size. Furthermore, the design accommodates axial forces acting in both directions.
As this open bearing is designed without integrated sealing washers, lubricant reaches the rolling elements and raceways directly. Lubrication is provided by the surrounding unit using oil or grease. Protection against dirt and moisture is provided by housing seals fitted on site.
The component is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance and a tolerance class of ‘Normal’ (P0/PN or ABEC 1). This combination is designed for typical mounting fits and standard operating conditions within the specified temperature range.
