The FAG 16052 -M deep-groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 260 × 400 × 44 mm and a robust brass cage, offers high load-carrying capacity whilst maintaining a slim cross-sectional design.
The single-row deep groove ball bearing 16052 -M from FAG primarily withstands radial loads and also supports axial forces in both directions. With a bore of 260 mm, an outer diameter of 400 mm and a narrow width of 44 mm, this design is suitable for applications with limited radial installation space. The open rolling bearing is made from standard rolling bearing steel (100Cr6) and operates within a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees.
This large bearing is primarily used in bearing arrangements where large shaft diameters need to be combined with a slim cross-section. The narrow design allows for compact housing dimensions whilst accommodating combined loads. As the component is of an open design, it is integrated directly into the structure’s lubrication system or supplied with lubricating oil or grease via housing lubrication.
The suffix ‘M’ denotes a brass cage, which guides the rolling elements precisely and can withstand higher thermal and mechanical loads than comparable sheet metal cages. The brass cage is well suited to operating conditions involving vibrations or oscillations. Together with the standard radial bearing clearance and tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), the bearing is designed for standardised fits on shafts and housings without the need for additional adjustment.
The component has an internal diameter of 260 mm, an external diameter of 400 mm and a width of 44 mm. These dimensions mean it is one of the slimmer designs, which allow for large shaft diameters with a comparatively small cross-section.
The abbreviation ‘M’ stands for a brass cage. This type of cage is characterised by its strength and good sliding properties. It guides the balls stably along the raceways of the inner and outer rings, even under demanding operating conditions.
The model is supplied with standard radial bearing clearance. This standard bearing clearance is designed for typical operating temperatures and conventional fits. The radial operating clearance settles to the specified dimension after the bearing has been pressed onto the shaft and fitted into the housing.
As there are no integrated sealing washers, lubrication is provided externally via the machine’s oil or grease circulation systems. The bearing must be protected against the ingress of dirt and moisture by external housing seals, such as labyrinth seals or shaft seals, in order to prevent premature wear.
The permissible operating range is between -20 and +150 degrees Celsius. The dimensional stability of the 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel used and of the brass cage is maintained within this range. Use at higher temperatures requires a lubricant that is thermally rated for these conditions.
