The SKF 6009 deep groove ball bearing offers precise running characteristics with main dimensions of 45x75x16 mm for demanding radial loads in mechanical engineering.
The 6009 deep groove ball bearing is a versatile single-row radial ball bearing made from standard rolling-element steel (100Cr6). As an open variant, the component is designed for external lubrication circuits or oil-lubricated systems. Thanks to its manufacture to SKF Explorer quality, the component features an internally optimised geometry. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements at operating temperatures between –20 and +120 degrees. The design, which has no flange or groove on the outer ring, facilitates cylindrical mounting in standardised housing bores.
Design engineers and maintenance personnel primarily use this design in rotating systems that mainly accommodate radial forces and low axial forces. Typical applications include shaft bearings and mechanical drive units with predominantly radial loads. As the component is of an open design, the lubricant reaches the raceways unimpeded. This is advantageous in applications with circulating oil bath lubrication or regular relubrication. Furthermore, as there are no contact seals, the bearing operates with low frictional resistance.
This radial ball bearing is manufactured to the enhanced tolerance class P6 (comparable to ABEC 3). The dimensional and concentricity tolerances are tighter than those of standard bearings, which contributes to smooth running and low vibration. In combination with the standard radial bearing clearance, the component is suitable for applications involving uniform thermal loads and requiring precise concentricity. During design, care must be taken to ensure a precise fit between the shaft and the housing bore in order to utilise the bearing’s guidance quality.
With an internal diameter of 45 mm, an external diameter of 75 mm and a width of 16 mm, the bearing complies with standardised dimensions for compatible housing seats.
Open roller bearings do not have integrated cover plates or sealing discs. The rolling elements are exposed, which means that the lubricant must be supplied from the outside. This design is suitable for housings with external sealing or oil-bath lubrication and does not cause any additional frictional torque.
Tolerance class P6, also known internationally as ABEC 3, specifies tighter dimensional and running tolerances than the standard tolerance. This higher level of accuracy results in smoother running and more precise shaft guidance, which is particularly important in noise-sensitive applications.
Normal bearing clearance refers to the standard radial clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways when the bearing is in its unassembled state. It is suitable for standard fits and operating conditions where there are no extreme temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
The roller bearing is designed using standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) and a sheet steel cage for a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees. Within these limits, the material properties of the components and the dimensional stability of the ring system are maintained.
The cage is made of sheet steel, keeps the balls at a uniform distance from one another and is resistant to standard lubricants as well as thermal stresses in a temperature range up to +120 degrees.
