The SKF 6012-2Z deep-groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing with a 60 mm bore, a 95 mm outer diameter and cover plates on both sides.
With the 6012-2Z deep groove ball bearing, you are choosing a versatile rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6). This design is primarily designed to accommodate radial loads as well as moderate axial forces in both directions. With key dimensions of 60 mm inner diameter, 95 mm outer diameter and 18 mm width, this design is suitable for a wide variety of shaft mountings in mechanical and plant engineering. As an SKF Explorer variant, the bearing is characterised by a precision-machined internal geometry.
This bearing is particularly recommended for rotating shaft guides where protection against dirt particles is required without additional friction losses. The design is suitable for compact bearing arrangements operating at medium to high speeds. The non-contacting cover plates made of sheet steel shield the rolling elements from external particles, whilst the integrated sheet steel cage maintains an even spacing between the balls. This keeps rotational resistance low and ensures that heat generation during operation remains moderate.
The designation -2Z indicates cover plates fitted on both sides, which form a narrow sealing gap with the inner ring. As no sliding contact occurs, this variant allows for high speeds whilst providing protection against foreign particles. Tolerance class P6 (comparable to ABEC 3) ensures greater running accuracy and tighter dimensional tolerances compared with standard tolerance. Combined with standard radial bearing clearance and a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees, the bearing is suitable for precision-guided industrial applications.
With an internal diameter of 60 mm, an external diameter of 95 mm and a width of 18 mm, the bearing has standardised metric dimensions. It is a single-row bearing with a cylindrical bore and a cylindrical outer ring without a flange or groove.
The designation -2Z refers to two cover plates made of profiled sheet steel, fitted on both sides. Together with the inner ring, these plates form a non-contact sealing gap. They protect the rolling elements from coarse dust without generating additional frictional heat through contact.
In accordance with tolerance class P6 (equivalent to ABEC 3), the bearing has tighter tolerance limits for dimensional, geometric and running accuracy than those specified for standard tolerance. This results in smoother running and reduces vibrations in precision-machined housing seats.
Normal radial bearing clearance refers to the standard radial clearance between the outer ring, inner ring and balls when the bearing is in its unassembled state. This design is intended for typical operating temperatures and standard shaft and housing fits, without extreme press fits.
With a range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius, the bearing covers typical industrial operating temperatures. This range is limited by the properties of the 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the sheet steel components, which retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range.
A sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements inside and keeps the balls at a uniform distance within the raceways. The cage is characterised by its low weight, is unaffected by varying speeds and is suitable for the entire permissible temperature range.
