The 6315-2Z deep-groove ball bearing from FAG Wälzlager, measuring 75 x 160 x 37 mm, features sheet metal shields on both sides and offers a high load-carrying capacity for industrial shaft mountings.
The 6315-2Z deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing for industrial machinery and drive systems. With a bore of 75 mm, an outside diameter of 160 mm and a width of 37 mm, this design primarily accommodates radial loads as well as moderate axial forces. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 and fitted with a sheet steel cage, this FAG roller bearing model is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
This rolling bearing is suitable for rotating shafts in industrial drives and power units. The non-contact gap seal between the two end plates keeps the frictional torque low, which helps to minimise heat build-up. Designs operating at medium to high speeds and subject to moderate dust exposure utilise this low-maintenance bearing arrangement, as the grease filling remains inside.
The -2Z designation refers to two pressed-in cover plates made of profiled sheet steel. These gap covers keep solid particles away from the rolling elements without causing friction losses, as is the case with sliding lip seals. The standard radial bearing clearance ensures smooth running under normal installation conditions and at ambient temperatures of up to 120 degrees Celsius. Manufacture to tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1) ensures a dimensionally accurate fit on standard shafts.
With a bore of 75 mm, an outer diameter of 160 mm and a width of 37 mm, the bearing complies with standardised metric dimensions. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has no flange or ring groove.
The suffix -2Z (or ZZ) denotes cover plates made of sheet steel fitted on both sides. These form a non-contact sealing gap with the bearing rings. They prevent coarser dirt particles from entering, retain the grease in the rolling element chamber and do not cause any friction-related loss of speed during operation.
The standard radial bearing clearance defines the standard play between the rolling elements and the raceways. Under normal mounting conditions and operating temperatures, it ensures smooth running without internal stress. For installations subject to high thermal loads, designers may opt for bearings with increased clearance.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. Within this temperature range, the standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6, the sheet steel cage and the factory-applied grease filling retain their intended strength and lubricity. Temperatures above 120 degrees should be avoided.
Manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 (also referred to as PN or, according to US standards, as ABEC 1), the bearing offers defined dimensional, geometric and running accuracy. This classification meets the usual requirements for precision and fitting accuracy in mechanical and plant engineering.
The bearing rings and rolling elements are made from standard 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel. A dimensionally stable sheet steel cage ensures the even guidance of the balls. The protective cover plates are also made of sheet steel, ensuring that the overall assembly contains no elastic rubber components.
