Cylindrical Roller Bearings SKF NJ306 ECP/C3

The SKF NJ306 ECP/C3 cylindrical roller bearing accommodates high radial loads and provides single-sided axial support for shafts, with dimensions of 30x72x19 mm.

This single-row cylindrical roller bearing, the NJ306 ECP/C3, combines a compact design with an optimised internal structure. Thanks to the line contact between the rollers and raceways, the design can withstand heavy radial loads. As this is an open-type bearing, lubricant can reach the rolling elements unhindered. At the same time, the open design requires a clean installation environment or a separate housing seal.

What is the NJ306 ECP/C3 cylindrical roller bearing suitable for as a support bearing?

As an NJ-type support bearing, the outer ring has two solid flanges, whilst the inner ring has one solid flange. This enables the bearing to absorb axial forces in one direction whilst allowing axial displacement of the shaft in the opposite direction. Its use is recommended for shaft mountings where, in addition to high radial forces, axial guiding forces also occur in one direction. The inner ring can also be removed separately for easier installation.

What are the advantages of the polyamide cage and the C3 clearance?

The version used features a lightweight polyamide cage, which guides the rollers quietly and is designed for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees. In addition, the increased radial clearance (C3) compensates for thermal expansion caused by the shaft or housing heating up during operation. When selecting the bearing, you should take into account the dimensional accuracy in accordance with standard tolerance P0 and the increased running accuracy of class P6.

What are the main dimensions of this cylindrical roller bearing?

With a bore of 30 mm, an outside diameter of 72 mm and a width of 19 mm, the bearing complies with standardised installation dimensions. These dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely into corresponding housing bores and onto suitable shaft seats in new designs or repairs.

What characterises the NJ design in this bearing?

As a support bearing, the NJ type features two fixed shoulders on the outer ring and one fixed shoulder on the inner ring. As a result, the unit transmits axial loads in one direction whilst allowing the shaft to move axially in the opposite direction.

What does the suffix ‘C3’ mean in relation to bearing clearance?

The designation C3 indicates increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance between the rollers and raceways helps to prevent the bearing from seizing should temperature differences arise between the inner and outer rings, or should tight fits reduce the bearing clearance.

What temperature range is the component suitable for?

The permissible operating range is between -30 and +120 degrees. This range is primarily limited by the polyamide cage used. To ensure smooth operation, the chosen lubricant – whether grease or oil – should also be suitable for this temperature range.

Why is the inner ring removable in this version?

The open-type design allows the inner ring to be completely separated from the outer ring and the roller cage. This makes assembly considerably easier, as the inner ring and outer ring can be fitted to the shaft and housing independently of one another.

What are the bearing’s tolerance classes?

The component combines two tolerance grades: the dimensional accuracy complies with tolerance class P0 (equivalent to ABEC 1), whilst the concentricity is manufactured to class P6 (equivalent to ABEC 3). This ensures smooth running with standardised mounting dimensions.
