The SKF NJ218 ECP/C3 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 90x160x30 mm, offers high radial load capacity and axial guidance in one direction.
This single-row NJ218 ECP/C3 cylindrical roller bearing from SKF, when used as a support bearing, withstands very high radial forces and provides axial guidance in one direction. The combination of an optimised internal design and precision-machined rollers ensures even load distribution across the rolling element contact. As the inner ring is removable from one side, the bearing is easy to handle during installation and maintenance and can be fitted separately.
This design is primarily used in bearing arrangements where high radial forces and one-way axial guidance are required. Thanks to its support bearing function, the bearing compensates for axial length changes in the shaft in one direction, whilst the fixed end supports axial forces from the opposite direction. The open design without sealing washers allows for flexible lubrication with oil or grease directly via the surrounding structure.
The lightweight polyamide cage reduces friction, minimises inertial forces during acceleration and ensures smooth running within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The increased radial bearing clearance (C3) helps ensure that the bearing operates without internal stress, even under operational heating or with tight fits. Combined with dimensional accuracy to standard tolerance P0/PN and improved running accuracy to P6, this design is suitable for demanding applications with increased requirements for concentricity.
The outer ring has two solid flanges, whilst the inner ring has one solid flange. This means that the bearing acts as a support bearing. In addition to high radial forces, it also accommodates axial loads in one direction. In the opposite direction, the inner ring allows axial displacement of the shaft.
The bearing has a bore of 90 mm, an outer diameter of 160 mm and a width of 30 mm. These standardised key dimensions allow it to be fitted in existing housings and on standardised shaft seats used in industrial drive technology.
This abbreviation indicates an optimised internal design for improved roller guidance and higher load-bearing capacity. The letter P refers to a polyamide cage, which ensures low weight, smooth running and low friction.
Bearing clearance class C3 offers greater radial clearance than the standard version. This compensates for temperature differences between the inner and outer rings during operation, as well as for diameter constrictions caused by tight fits, without causing harmful internal stresses in the rollers.
The product combines two levels of precision: the dimensional accuracy complies with standard class P0 or Normal (PN), comparable to ABEC 1. The running accuracy is designed to the tighter tolerance class P6 or ABEC 3, which improves the shaft’s concentricity during operation.
As the bearing is manufactured without integrated seals, lubrication is provided via the surrounding machine housing using lubricating oil or a suitable bearing grease. The permissible operating temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius, tailored to the polyamide cage fitted.
