The SKF NJ222 ECM cylindrical roller bearing, with a 110 mm bore, brass cage and support bearing function, provides a robust bearing solution for high radial loads.
This single-row NJ222 ECM cylindrical roller bearing primarily absorbs high radial forces and, thanks to its design, guides the shaft in an axial direction. Designed as an open bearing, it can be specifically integrated into existing oil or grease lubrication systems. The solid brass cage guides the rollers precisely whilst maintaining thermal stability within a range of -30 to +150 degrees.
The NJ design combines a high radial load-carrying capacity with a single-sided axial guidance function. Fixed flanges on the outer and inner rings enable the absorption of one-way axial forces, whilst the opposite side provides the necessary displacement to compensate for thermal length changes. This support bearing function is used in shaft mountings that require defined one-way axial guidance in addition to primary radial loads.
The machined brass cage is characterised by its dimensional stability under vibration and guides the roller set during operation. As the inner ring is removable on one side, the bearing can be fitted separately onto the shaft and housing. The standard radial clearance, combined with P0 dimensional accuracy and P6 running accuracy, ensures smooth concentricity under standard operating conditions.
This design is characterised by two solid flanges on the outer ring and one solid flange on the inner ring. As a result, the unit acts as a thrust bearing and can accommodate axial forces from one direction. The inner ring can be pulled off to one side, which facilitates separate installation onto the shaft and into the housing.
The main dimensions are 110 mm for the bore diameter, 200 mm for the outer diameter and 38 mm for the overall width. The outer ring has a smooth finish and has no lubrication grooves or holes, which is why the lubricant is supplied via the connecting structure.
A solid brass cage is characterised by high strength and thermal stability. It guides the cylindrical rollers with precision, even under varying loads or vibrations. Compared with simple sheet metal cages, brass offers additional mechanical stability in continuous industrial operation.
The NJ222 ECM cylindrical roller bearing is designed for an operating temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. As this is an unsealed bearing, in practice it is usually the selected grease or lubricating oil that determines the actual thermal operating limit of the entire system.
The bearing combines two tolerance classes: the dimensional accuracy corresponds to standard class P0 or ABEC 1. For running accuracy, the finer tolerance class P6 or ABEC 3 applies, which contributes to reduced runout and improved smoothness of operation.
The open design, which has no integrated seals, allows external lubricant to circulate freely, for example in an oil bath or within lubrication circuits. It also makes it easy to fit the separate rings during assembly, but requires the bearing housing to be sealed against dirt on site.
