The FAG N316 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is an open, single-row idler bearing with a polyamide cage, designed for a shaft diameter of 80 mm and an outer diameter of 170 mm.
As a radial roller bearing, the N316 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing can accommodate high radial forces. Due to the cylindrical rolling elements, there is line contact between the roller and the raceway. This FAG design features a cylindrical bore of 80 mm, an outer diameter of 170 mm and a width of 39 mm. This single-row component is designed as an open bearing and operates within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
When used purely as a support bearing, the N316 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing compensates for axial changes in shaft length directly within the bearing. The flangeless outer ring can be withdrawn from both ends, allowing axial displacements to be accommodated without stress. Designs subject to high radial loads primarily use this version to accommodate purely radial forces. As the outer ring has neither a groove nor a lubrication bore, lubricant is supplied via the surrounding housing or from the end face.
The TVP2 polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers whilst having a low mass itself and dampens vibrations during operation. The standard radial bearing clearance, together with manufacture to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1, enables use in standardised fit systems. When designing, bear in mind that open bearings without integrated seals require an external housing seal to protect against dirt and moisture.
In the N design, the inner ring has two fixed flanges to guide the rollers, whilst the outer ring is manufactured without flanges. This allows the outer ring to be removed from both sides. The bearing functions purely as a support bearing and accommodates the shaft’s longitudinal expansion without constraint, but does not transmit any axial forces.
This roller bearing has an inner diameter of 80 mm for the shaft seat, an outer diameter of 170 mm and a width of 39 mm. It is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1, meaning that its dimensional and running characteristics comply with standard industrial specifications.
The permissible temperature range for this bearing is from -30 to +120 degrees. This range is limited, amongst other things, by the polyamide cage fitted and the lubricant selected for each application. To ensure safe operation, the operating temperatures should remain within this range.
As an open bearing, this design is intended for installation locations where sealing is provided by the housing cover, shaft seals or labyrinth seals. Open bearings allow for a direct supply of lubricant via the machine’s oil or grease circuit and can be completely cleaned and relubricated if necessary.
The standard radial bearing clearance defines the clearance specified by the manufacturer between the rollers and raceways when the bearing is unmounted. This dimension ensures that the bearing rings can expand under normal fits and due to operational heating without the bearing being subjected to undesirable radial stress or seizing up.
As the outer ring has neither a lubrication groove nor a bore, the lubricant reaches the raceways and the polyamide cage from the side via the end faces. Depending on the operating requirements, you can use grease or lubricating oil, selected to suit operating temperatures between -30 and +120 degrees.
