The FAG NU2234 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing is an open idler bearing with a brass cage and main dimensions of 170 x 310 x 86 mm.
As a single-row roller bearing, the FAG NU2234 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing can withstand high radial loads. With an inner diameter of 170 mm, an outer diameter of 310 mm and a width of 86 mm, the design is sized for heavy-duty industrial applications. Thanks to its standard radial clearance and manufacture to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, this roller bearing fits precisely into corresponding shaft designs.
This radial roller bearing is primarily intended for bearing arrangements in mechanical and plant engineering where high radial loads occur. Due to the line contact between the rollers and raceways, this design can withstand high radial forces. As the inner ring can be removed from both sides, the design functions purely as a non-locating bearing. It compensates for axial length changes of the shaft relative to the housing directly within the bearing.
The NU design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring remains flangeless. This separability facilitates assembly and maintenance on large shafts, as the inner and outer rings can be fitted separately. The brass cage guides the cylindrical rollers reliably under demanding operating conditions. The specified operating temperature range is from –30 to +150 degrees. As this is an open bearing with no groove or lubrication bore in the outer ring, the lubricant is supplied via the surrounding housing structure.
In the NU design, the bearing accommodates radial forces only. As the inner ring has no flanges and can be removed from either side, the shaft can move axially within the bearing unhindered during thermal expansion. This prevents harmful axial stresses in the overall system.
The main dimensions are 170 mm for the internal diameter (bore), 310 mm for the external diameter and 86 mm for the bearing width. These standardised dimensions enable a precise fit when replacing parts in existing machines and units.
A brass cage is characterised by high strength, dimensional stability and the ability to continue operating in the event of a failure. It keeps the cylindrical rollers spaced apart and is suitable for applications involving severe vibrations, high speeds or fluctuating accelerations.
The bearing is of an open design and has neither integrated seals nor a lubrication groove or lubrication bore in the outer ring. Protection against contamination and the supply of grease or lubricating oil must therefore be provided via the surrounding bearing housing.
The permissible temperature range for this cylindrical roller bearing is between -30 and +150 degrees. Within these limits, the rings and the brass cage retain their dimensional stability, provided that the lubricant used is also suitable for the respective operating temperature.
This classification denotes the standard tolerance for industrial roller bearings in accordance with international standards. It defines the permissible dimensional and runout tolerances required for reliable operation in standard mechanical engineering applications.
