The SKF NU2224 ECJ cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 120x215x58 mm, offers high radial load-carrying capacity as a separable idler bearing for industrial applications.
The SKF NU2224 ECJ cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing with an optimised internal design. It accommodates high radial loads and guides the shaft in the radial direction. With key dimensions of a 120 mm bore, 215 mm outside diameter and 58 mm width, this design functions purely as a non-locating bearing. As the outer ring has solid flanges, the flangeless inner ring can be removed from both sides, which simplifies installation in mechanical engineering.
This radial roller bearing is specifically designed for bearing arrangements in which high radial forces act on the shaft. As a non-locating bearing, the design compensates for thermally induced changes in the shaft’s length directly within the rolling element set without any constraint. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the cylindrical rollers evenly along their raceway and enables use within a temperature range of –30 to +150 degrees Celsius.
The NU design allows both bearing rings to be mounted separately onto the shaft and housing. The flangeless inner ring can be slid onto the bearing seat separately, which simplifies handling for a shaft diameter of 120 mm. As this is an open bearing without integrated seals, the lubricant and external sealing must be selected to suit the installation environment. The rolling bearing features standard radial clearance and enhanced running accuracy to tolerance class P6.
As a single-row thrust bearing, this design withstands high radial forces and guides the rolling elements between two fixed flanges on the outer ring. The flangeless inner ring is designed to be removable from both sides. A sheet steel cage keeps the cylindrical rollers spaced apart and enables operation within a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees Celsius.
With a bore of 120 mm, an outside diameter of 215 mm and a width of 58 mm, this roller bearing is designed for corresponding shaft diameters in mechanical engineering. The outer ring is manufactured without a lubrication groove or additional lubrication bore.
In this design, the outer ring guides the rollers between two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring is smooth on both sides and removable. The bearing therefore accommodates radial loads only and allows for axial length compensation of the shaft directly within the raceway.
This design combines dimensional accuracy to Class P0 or standard tolerance (ABEC 1) with increased running accuracy to Class P6 (ABEC 3). This combination ensures a low radial runout error during operation and contributes to the smooth running of rotating shafts.
As this is an open roller bearing without integrated seals, lubrication with oil or grease is provided via the surrounding machine housing. External housing seals protect the interior from dirt and prevent the loss of lubricant.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. The guided sheet steel cage and the material components retain their dimensional stability within this range. A key factor in ensuring safe operation is ensuring that the selected lubricant is suitable for the respective operating temperature.
