The FAG NU222 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing (110x200x38 mm) serves as a separable idler bearing for high radial loads, featuring a robust brass cage.
The NU222 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing from FAG designed for demanding industrial applications. With a bore of 110 mm, an outer diameter of 200 mm and a width of 38 mm, this design can withstand high radial forces. Due to its open design without an integrated seal, the rolling element set runs directly in externally supplied lubricant. The design complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 and operates within a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees.
This roller bearing is used wherever designs combine high radial loads with axial length changes. As the NU design functions purely as a non-locating bearing, it compensates for thermal length expansion of the shaft directly between the rollers and the inner ring. Typical applications include industrial drives and shaft mountings where axial displacements must be accommodated without inducing stress. The solid brass cage guides the cylindrical rollers precisely and withstands continuous dynamic loads.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring is flangeless and removable from both sides. This separability makes assembly and maintenance considerably easier, as you can press both rings onto the shaft and housing independently of one another. The brass cage is particularly suitable for applications involving vibrations or high accelerations. When planning, take into account the standard radial bearing clearance as well as the need for an external housing seal to protect the bearing location.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 110 mm, an outside diameter of 200 mm and a width of 38 mm. These dimensions correspond to the standardised main dimensions of the series. With a tolerance class of P0/PN or ABEC 1, the roller bearing fits into standardised mounting seats used in general mechanical engineering.
The NU design is used exclusively as a floating bearing to accommodate radial forces. Two fixed flanges on the outer ring guide the rollers, whilst the flangeless inner ring compensates for axial displacement of the shaft with low friction within the bearing. This design cannot transmit pure axial forces, which is why the bearing arrangement requires a separate fixed bearing.
The solid brass cage withstands vibrations, fluctuating accelerations and elevated operating temperatures. Brass offers favourable damping properties and high dimensional stability under demanding operating conditions. This makes the M1 version suitable for industrial drives subject to continuous radial loads.
The inner ring has no guide flanges and can therefore be pulled completely out of the outer ring with the roller set. This separability simplifies installation and removal in hard-to-reach housings, as both bearing rings can be fitted separately. During final assembly, slide the shaft with the inner ring precisely into the unit.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures between -30 and +150 degrees. This wide temperature range is due to the dimensionally stable components and the temperature-resistant brass cage. To ensure trouble-free operation, select the lubricant and the external housing seal to suit the temperatures actually encountered at the point of use.
As the bearing is supplied from the factory without seals and the outer ring has no lubrication bore, the lubricant is supplied via the surrounding structure. Depending on the operating conditions and speed, either oil or grease lubrication is suitable. An external housing seal prevents the lubricant from leaking out and protects the bearing from ingress of particles.
