The FAG NU2217 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row idler bearing with a brass cage, designed for high radial loads on a 85 mm shaft diameter.
The FAG NU2217 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing is designed for industrial applications in which high radial forces act on the shaft. With an inner diameter of 85 mm, an outer diameter of 150 mm and a width of 36 mm, this roller bearing is suitable for compact installation spaces. The NU design is characterised by the fact that the inner ring can be removed from both sides. This allows the bearing to compensate for axial length changes in the shaft directly within the bearing, without generating additional stresses in the system.
The NU2217 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing primarily functions as a non-locating bearing in shaft mountings subject to purely radial loads. As the outer ring has two solid flanges and the inner ring is flangeless, no internal axial forces arise during axial displacement. This open bearing is designed for a temperature range of –30 to +150 degrees. The design allows thermal length changes in the shaft to be compensated for directly between the raceways.
The built-in brass cage guides the cylindrical rolling elements precisely and withstands mechanical loads. This design is suitable for applications involving vibrations or varying speeds. When designing the system, it must be borne in mind that this is an open bearing without an integrated seal. External sealing of the housing and a suitable lubrication system are therefore required for operation. The bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1.
The NU design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring is flangeless and can be removed from either side. This design allows for free axial movement of the shaft relative to the housing. The bearing absorbs radial forces and serves to prevent stress caused by thermal length changes.
This single-row cylindrical roller bearing has a bore of 85 mm, an outer diameter of 150 mm and a width of 36 mm. With these key dimensions, the bearing fits into suitable housing bores and is designed for 85 mm diameter shafts in industrial applications.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +150 degrees. This range is supported by the brass cage and the dimensional stability of the bearing components. As this is an open bearing, the lubricant must be selected to suit the specific operating temperature of the environment.
A brass cage is characterised by its strength and resistance to vibration. It reliably guides the rollers along the raceway even under dynamic loads and during rapid changes in speed. This makes this cage design suitable for demanding operating environments subject to vibration.
The designation P0 indicates the standard tolerance class for rolling bearings and corresponds to the ABEC 1 specification. It specifies the permissible dimensional and concentricity deviations. This accuracy class reliably meets the standard requirements of industrial machinery design.
As the bearing is supplied from the factory without sealing washers, lubrication is provided via the housing design. Depending on the operating conditions and rotational speed, either grease or oil is used. A suitable external shaft seal prevents dirt and moisture from entering the bearing chamber.
