The SKF NU2212 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is an open, single-row idler bearing with a polyamide cage, designed for shaft diameters of 60 mm under high radial loads.
This single-row NU2212 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is characterised by its compact main dimensions, with a 60 mm bore, 110 mm outside diameter and 28 mm width. Designed as an open rolling bearing without seals, the component can be flexibly lubricated via the surrounding machine system. The manufacturer, SKF, produces this version in the Explorer performance class with an optimised internal design. At operating temperatures between –30 and +120 degrees, the roller guidance ensures smooth power transmission in industrial applications.
The NU2212 ECP cylindrical roller bearing absorbs heavy radial forces and compensates for axial changes in shaft length. This design is particularly suitable for bearing arrangements in industrial machinery where purely radial loads are the primary concern. Thanks to the line contact between the cylindrical rollers and the raceways, the arrangement can also withstand heavy impact loads. As the outer ring has solid flanges, it guides the roller set securely, whilst the shaft can move freely axially relative to the bearing housing.
The NU design is characterised by an inner ring without flanges that can be removed from both sides. This allows the inner and outer rings to be mounted separately onto the shaft and housing, which facilitates installation and subsequent maintenance work. The polyamide cage keeps the weight of the rolling element assembly low and dampens operating noise. In combination with the standard radial clearance and running accuracy to class P6 or ABEC 3, the bearing enables precise guidance of rotating components.
The NU design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. This allows the inner ring to be removed axially from either side. The bearing acts purely as a non-locating bearing and absorbs only radial forces, whilst compensating for thermally induced changes in the length of the shaft within the bearing assembly.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 60 mm, an external diameter of 110 mm and a total width of 28 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely into housings and onto machine-tooling shaft seats with the appropriate tolerances.
The abbreviation ECP refers to an optimised internal design combined with a polyamide cage. This cage is characterised by low friction and low weight. It ensures quiet roller operation and retains its shape within the specified temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
This rolling bearing combines dimensional accuracy of class P0 (Normal) (equivalent to ABEC 1) with improved running accuracy of class P6 (equivalent to ABEC 3). This means tighter tolerances for concentricity, which reduces vibrations during operation and enhances the guidance accuracy of rotating components.
As the bearing is manufactured without integrated seals and without a lubrication groove in the outer ring, lubrication is provided by the surrounding structure. Depending on the operating conditions, either lubricating oils or greases may be used. An external housing seal protects the open raceways from contamination.
