The FAG NU220 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing, as an open idler bearing measuring 100 × 180 × 34 mm, reliably absorbs high radial forces.
The NU220 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing from FAG designed for demanding industrial applications. With a bore of 100 mm, an outside diameter of 180 mm and a width of 34 mm, the bearing transmits high radial loads via the line contact of the cylindrical rollers. Thanks to its open design without an integrated seal, the lubrication supply can be flexibly adjusted via the housing.
Design engineers primarily use this cylindrical roller bearing in bearing arrangements where high radial forces occur under purely radial guidance. The NU design functions purely as a non-locating bearing. As the inner ring has no flanges, it can be removed from either side. This allows thermal-induced changes in shaft length to be compensated for without constraint directly within the bearing, thereby preventing axial stresses in the system.
The designation TVP2 indicates a solid window cage made of polyamide. This cage is characterised by its low weight and elastic running characteristics, which reduce rolling element friction and promote smooth running. The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees. In combination with the standard radial clearance and tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1, this design meets precise standard requirements in mechanical engineering.
With an internal diameter of 100 mm, an external diameter of 180 mm and a width of 34 mm, these dimensions correspond to the standardised key dimensions for single-row cylindrical roller bearings of this size.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed guide flanges, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. This allows the inner ring to be withdrawn from both sides, which facilitates the separate installation of both bearing rings and compensates for axial shaft expansion during operation.
The TVP2 cage is made of polyamide and guides the rollers whilst having a low mass. The material dampens vibrations and reduces friction losses at normal operating temperatures compared with heavier metal cages.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. In addition to the materials used, the polyamide cage plays a key role in setting this thermal limit, which ensures safe continuous operation.
Standard radial bearing clearance, often referred to as CN, describes the radial clearance in the bearing prior to installation. This standard bearing clearance is designed for typical fit selections and normal operating temperatures without extreme temperature differences between the shaft and the housing.
As the bearing is supplied without its own sealing washers, lubrication is provided by grease or oil applied directly from the housing. Designs therefore require external housing seals to prevent the ingress of dirt and the escape of lubricant.
