The SKF NU218 ECM cylindrical roller bearing, a single-row idler bearing measuring 90 × 160 × 30 mm, can accommodate high radial loads.
The SKF NU218 ECM cylindrical roller bearing is a radial rolling bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. Thanks to the line contact between the cylindrical rollers and the hardened raceways, this component transmits high forces whilst maintaining high rigidity. The design features a bore of 90 mm, an outer diameter of 160 mm and a width of 30 mm. The open bearing is particularly suitable for lubrication circuits using oil or grease in protected machine housings.
This single-row cylindrical roller bearing is primarily used as a support bearing for guiding rotating shafts. As the inner ring is flangeless on both sides and removable, the bearing compensates for axial length changes in the shaft directly within the bearing. Typical applications can be found in general mechanical engineering as well as in bearing arrangements subject to purely radial loads. In these installations, primarily radial forces occur, whilst axial forces are absorbed by separate fixed bearings.
The integrated brass cage guides the rolling elements precisely and gives the bearing high mechanical stability. Brass is also resistant to vibrations and rapid accelerations. The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. With standard radial bearing clearance, dimensional accuracy to P0/PN and running accuracy to P6, this design meets tight tolerance requirements whilst ensuring smooth running.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 90 mm, an outer diameter of 160 mm and a width of 30 mm. Thanks to these standardised key dimensions, the cylindrical roller bearing can be fitted into standardised housing bores and combined with suitable shaft seats.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed guide flanges, whilst the inner ring is manufactured without flanges. This allows the inner ring to be removed from either side, which makes installation easier. This design acts purely as a non-locating bearing and accommodates operational longitudinal movements of the shaft without restriction within the bearing.
This model features a guided brass cage. Brass is characterised by high strength, good wear resistance and favourable run-on properties. The material keeps the cylindrical rollers securely spaced apart and performs particularly well in applications involving severe vibrations or alternating directions of rotation.
The bearing is manufactured with a standard radial clearance. This standard range is suitable for standard fit combinations on shafts and housings, as well as for applications where there are no extreme temperature differences between the outer and inner rings. This ensures reliable operation under normal operating conditions.
The component is approved for an operating temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. This range allows it to be used in industrial environments subject to thermal stress, provided that the lubricant used is suitable for the relevant operating temperature and permits the use of an open roller bearing.
As an open bearing, this design has no integrated sliding or cover seals. This construction allows the unimpeded flow of lubricating oil or enables use in centrally supplied grease lubrication systems. In this design, the surrounding housing structure provides protection against contaminants and moisture.
