The SKF NU207 ECP/C3 cylindrical roller bearing is an open, non-locating bearing with dimensions of 35x72x17 mm, designed for high radial loads with increased bearing clearance.
The SKF NU207 ECP/C3 cylindrical roller bearing, as a single-row radial roller bearing, accommodates high radial forces. Thanks to its optimised internal design and guided polyamide cage, the bearing operates with low friction in demanding industrial applications. The dimensions are 35 mm bore diameter, 72 mm outer diameter and 17 mm width. As an open design without an integrated seal, this version is designed for operation in oil- or grease-lubricated housings.
This bearing serves as a classic support bearing to accommodate purely radial forces, whilst freely compensating for axial shaft displacement internally. Typical applications include rigid shaft mountings and industrial applications where operational changes in shaft length occur. As the inner ring can be removed from both sides, the cylindrical roller bearing can be fitted separately, which simplifies assembly and disassembly in the workshop.
The ECP designation stands for an optimised internal design featuring a lightweight polyamide cage, which reduces running noise and supports good running characteristics under rotational loads. The C3 bearing clearance indicates increased radial clearance compared with standard clearance. This combination is advantageous when interference fits on the shaft and housing, or operational heating, reduce the existing bearing clearance during operation. The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed guide flanges, whilst the inner ring has no flanges and can be removed from either side. As a result, the unit functions purely as a non-locating bearing. It accommodates radial loads only and allows for longitudinal misalignment of the shaft relative to the bearing housing directly between the rollers and the raceway.
The single-row bearing has an inside diameter of 35 mm, an outside diameter of 72 mm and a width of 17 mm. These dimensions are specified for the NU207 design. As the outer ring has no groove or lubrication bore, lubrication is supplied via the housing environment.
The abbreviation ‘EC’ refers to an optimised internal design with optimised roller contact to reduce localised stresses. The letter P denotes the polyamide cage fitted. This cage material is characterised by its low weight, elastic damping properties and smooth running at a wide range of speeds.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance prevents the rolling elements from becoming jammed when tight fits cause the rings to expand or when temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings. The bearing is therefore suitable for operating conditions subject to thermal stress.
The dimensional accuracy complies with tolerance class P0 or standard tolerance (corresponding to ABEC 1). The running accuracy meets the tighter tolerance class P6 or ABEC 3. This specification provides precise concentricity for industrial drives with standardised mounting dimensions for the shaft and housing seat.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. This range is essentially limited by the material of the polyamide cage. As this is an open bearing without integrated seals, the lubricant selected by the customer also determines the actual thermal operating limit within the housing.
