The FAG NU1044 -M1A-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, with dimensions of 220 × 340 × 56 mm and a solid brass cage, offers a heavy-duty, non-locating bearing solution for radial loads.
The FAG NU1044 -M1A-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing designed for demanding industrial applications involving purely radial loads. With an inner diameter of 220 mm, an outer diameter of 340 mm and a width of 56 mm, the design can withstand high transverse forces. As the outer ring has solid flanges and the inner ring is flangeless, the inner ring can be removed from either side. This facilitates the separate installation of both bearing rings.
This floating bearing is primarily used where thermally induced changes in shaft length must be compensated for without restriction. Thanks to the cylindrical rollers and line contact, the rolling bearing can withstand high radial forces. Typical applications include heavy machinery, gearboxes and large-scale drive systems. As no seals are integrated, external sealing of the housing design ensures protection against contamination.
Fits and operating temperatures play a decisive role in the design of the bearing assembly. The C3 designation indicates a slightly increased radial clearance, ensuring that the bearing remains free-running even when heated during operation. The temperature range extends from –30 to +150 degrees Celsius. The externally guided solid brass cage guides the rolling elements precisely and withstands high accelerations. With a tolerance class of P0 or ABEC 1, the model fits into standardised housing seats.
With a bore of 220 mm, an outer diameter of 340 mm and a total width of 56 mm, the bearing defines the required installation space on the shaft and within the housing. Thanks to its standardised dimensions, this model is suitable for heavy-duty industrial applications with a single-row roller arrangement.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring is manufactured without flanges. As a result, the component functions purely as a floating bearing. It allows axial displacement of the shaft relative to the housing in both directions and can be completely dismantled for installation.
The C3 design features a radial bearing clearance that exceeds the standard specification. This additional clearance prevents the rolling elements from becoming stressed when tight shaft fits cause the inner ring to expand, or when high operating temperatures create a temperature difference between the inner and outer rings.
The brass cage, designated M1A, maintains the rollers at a defined distance and is guided on the outer ring. Brass is characterised by high strength and good run-out properties. The external guidance stabilises the cage even under dynamic loads or fluctuating rotational movements.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. As this is an open bearing without integrated sliding seals, the lubricant selected determines the practical operating range within these temperature limits.
This roller bearing is supplied ex works without sealing washers or lubrication holes in the outer ring. The lubricant – oil or grease, depending on the system design – must be supplied via the housing design. External housing seals, such as shaft seals or labyrinth seals, protect the interior of the bearing from dirt and moisture.
