The SKF NU1005 cylindrical roller bearing is a compact, single-row non-locating bearing with dimensions of 25 × 47 × 12 mm, designed for purely radial loads.
The SKF NU1005 cylindrical roller bearing has standardised dimensions with a 25 mm bore, a 47 mm outer diameter and a 12 mm width. As a single-row roller bearing with line contact, it can accommodate high radial loads. In rotating shaft guides, it serves as a load-bearing support where designs are subjected to high radial forces and precise guidance is required.
This bearing is suitable for industrial applications in which purely radial forces occur and axial thermal expansion of the shaft needs to be compensated for. The NU design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring is flangeless. As a result, the component acts as a floating bearing in mechanical engineering, for example in the case of thermally induced length changes in mounted shafts. The open bearing requires external sealing of the housing environment to protect against contamination and moisture.
The separable design simplifies assembly procedures, as the inner and outer rings can be mounted independently of one another onto the shaft and housing. Axial displacement between the shaft and housing is compensated for directly within the component. A dimensionally stable sheet steel cage guides the cylindrical rollers evenly and allows use within a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. With normal radial clearance, the component is designed for standard fits.
With an internal diameter of 25 mm, an external diameter of 47 mm and a width of 12 mm, the bearing complies with standard key dimensions. These dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely onto suitable shaft seats and into standardised housing bores in mechanical engineering.
The NU design is characterised by two solid flanges on the outer ring and a flangeless inner ring. As the inner ring can be removed from either side, the bearing allows for axial relative movement between the shaft and the housing. It thus fulfils the classic function of a non-locating bearing for purely radial loads.
The bearing combines dimensional accuracy in accordance with tolerance class P0 or standard tolerance (ABEC 1) with increased running accuracy of class P6 (ABEC 3). This specification ensures precise concentricity whilst meeting standardised requirements for the fits between the housing and the shaft.
The open design without sealing washers is intended for constructions with an externally sealed housing. This allows lubricant to circulate freely via oil circuits or by immersion lubrication. At the same time, it eliminates the frictional resistance that arises from sliding seals during continuous operation.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -30 to +150 degrees. Both the sheet steel cage and the bearing rings are designed to withstand these temperatures. To ensure smooth running, a lubricant is required that covers this temperature range during operation.
Thanks to the inner ring, which can be removed from either side, the outer ring – together with the roller set – and the inner ring can be fitted separately. This makes it easier to mount the bearing in cases of tight fits. Before commissioning, ensure that the bearing is suitably lubricated initially or connected to a lubrication circuit.
