The SKF NUP311 ECP single-row cylindrical roller bearing (55x120x29 mm) acts as a fixed bearing and accommodates high radial forces as well as axial loads on both sides.
With the SKF NUP311 ECP cylindrical roller bearing, users are provided with a single-row radial roller bearing in the Explorer design. The bearing has a bore of 55 mm, an outer diameter of 120 mm and a width of 29 mm. Thanks to its optimised internal design, this bearing type can handle heavy radial loads. With fixed flanges on the outer ring and a loose flange disc on the inner ring, the design guides the shaft in both axial directions. This design is suitable for heavy-duty industrial gearboxes and machine shafts.
As a fixed bearing, the NUP311 ECP cylindrical roller bearing fulfils the dual function of absorbing high radial loads whilst simultaneously limiting axial displacement of the shaft in both directions. Typical applications include general mechanical engineering as well as heavily loaded gearboxes and shaft guides. As the bearing is of an open design, the surrounding structure requires targeted lubrication and an effective sealing system to protect against dirt and moisture. The design contributes to smooth running during continuous operation.
The suffix ‘ECP’ denotes an optimised internal design featuring a lightweight polyamide cage. This cage guides the cylindrical rollers with low friction and elastically absorbs dynamic accelerations during operation. With dimensional accuracy to tolerance class Normal (P0/PN or ABEC 1) and improved running accuracy to class P6 (ABEC 3), the bearing ensures precise concentricity. The design must take into account the permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees, which is determined by the material of the cage.
A NUP-type bearing has two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange and a separate flange disc on the inner ring. This enables it to support heavy radial forces whilst simultaneously securing the shaft in both axial directions. This limits axial displacement of the shaft mounted in the housing.
The single-row cylindrical roller bearing has an inner diameter of 55 mm, an outer diameter of 120 mm and a width across flats of 29 mm. Before fitting, the mating surfaces of the shaft and the housing bore should be checked carefully to ensure they conform to these nominal dimensions.
The designation ECP stands for an optimised internal geometry combined with a polyamide cage. The adapted roller guidance reduces friction losses and improves load distribution across the raceways. The polyamide cage reduces the weight of the component and exhibits good damping behaviour during rapid speed changes and vibrations.
The bearing has standard radial clearance for standard operating conditions with typical fits. In terms of manufacturing tolerances, this design combines dimensional accuracy of class P0 or ABEC 1 with higher running accuracy of class P6 or ABEC 3. This combination ensures smooth and low-vibration operation of the shaft.
The NUP311 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is specified for an operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. This range is primarily based on the thermal resistance of the polyamide cage. To ensure safe operation, it is recommended to use a lubricant whose viscosity and composition are suitable for these operating temperatures.
As an open bearing, this design is intended for use in enclosed gearboxes or oil- or grease-lubricated housings. Design engineers are free to choose the lubricant and can achieve sealing via housing covers, shaft seals or labyrinth systems. Furthermore, the open design facilitates visual inspection and the changing of the lubricant.
