The FAG NUP224 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing provides axial support for shafts in both directions and measures 120 × 215 × 40 mm.
The FAG NUP224 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing in a fixed-ring design. This design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange and one loose flange disc on the inner ring. In addition to transmitting high radial loads, the open bearing also accommodates axial forces in both directions. A polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers with low frictional resistance and ensures smooth running during continuous industrial operation.
This fixed bearing is used when a shaft must accommodate both high radial forces and axial forces from alternating directions. Thanks to the combination of a fixed inner ring flange and a loose flange disc, the NUP geometry limits axial displacement of the shaft relative to the housing. It is primarily used in mechanical drive trains and mounted shafts where precise guidance is required under high radial loads.
The designation NUP defines the design as a fixed bearing with guidance on both sides via the inner ring flange and a separate flange disc. The suffix TVP2 denotes a polyamide cage, which reduces the component’s weight and helps to minimise friction. The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees and complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. As the outer ring has no groove or lubrication bore, lubricant is supplied via the housing cavity at the bearing location.
The bearing has a bore diameter of 120 mm, an outside diameter of 215 mm and a width of 40 mm. These dimensions determine the cylindrical fit on the shaft and in the housing bore. Before installation, the dimensions and the cylindrical mating surfaces on the shaft and housing must be checked for dimensional accuracy.
This design functions as a fixed bearing. Two fixed flanges on the outer ring, together with a fixed flange and a separate flange disc on the inner ring, guide the shaft in both axial directions. At the same time, the component transmits radial loads with high rigidity between the shaft and the housing structure.
The TVP2 cage, made of polyamide, is characterised by its low weight and damping properties. It maintains a uniform spacing between the cylindrical rollers and ensures low-friction operation of the bearing. Compared with metal versions, the material reduces inertia and centrifugal forces during operation.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees. This range is limited primarily by the lubricant and the material of the polyamide cage. When designing the bearing arrangement, care must be taken to ensure that the operating temperature does not exceed this thermal range.
In this open bearing, which has no ring groove or lubrication bore on the outer ring, the lubricant reaches the rolling elements from the side via the housing cavity. Depending on the speed and ambient conditions, either grease or oil lubrication is suitable. A housing seal helps to keep the lubricant inside the housing and protect the bearing.
The bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance. This design is suitable for normal operating conditions and standard fits, where there are no extreme temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. Once fitted, the radial clearance required for operation remains between the rollers and the raceways.
