The FAG NUP208 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing, as a single-row fixed bearing, combines a high radial load capacity with axial guidance on both sides and a 40 mm bore.
The FAG NUP208 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is used where heavy radial loads occur and the shaft must be guided axially in both directions. Due to the line contact between the rollers and raceways, this single-row roller bearing is suitable for high loads compared to point-contact ball bearings of the same dimensions. With main dimensions of 40 mm inner diameter and 80 mm outer diameter, as well as a width of 18 mm, this open bearing meets the demanding requirements of general mechanical engineering.
This fixed bearing is designed to accommodate heavy radial loads whilst simultaneously limiting axial shaft play. It is used wherever shafts need to be supported and axially fixed, whilst thermal linear expansion is compensated for by a separate floating bearing. As this is an open design without integrated seals, an external housing seal provides protection against contaminants and moisture. Lubrication is carried out using an external lubrication system with oil or grease, depending on the application.
The NUP design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring, as well as one fixed flange and one loose flange disc on the inner ring. This enables the bearing to absorb axial forces alternately in both directions and to guide the shaft longitudinally. The integrated TVP2 window cage made of polyamide guides the rollers quietly and is characterised by its low weight. The component meets tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1) with standard radial clearance and is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees.
The bearing has a bore of 40 mm, an outside diameter of 80 mm and a width across flats of 18 mm. The outer ring has no groove and no lubrication hole, so it is fitted directly into a cylindrical housing bore.
The designation NUP denotes a single-row cylindrical roller bearing in a fixed-mount configuration. Two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring, supplemented by a loose flange disc, guide the shaft in both axial directions. The bearing thus accommodates not only high radial forces but also axial guiding forces.
The suffix TVP2 denotes a solid polyamide window cage. This material reduces inertial forces during operation, dampens running noise and promotes low-friction roller guidance. The cage is designed for the bearing’s permissible operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
Standard radial bearing clearance refers to the manufacturing-related clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways when the bearing is unmounted. This clearance compensates for the fitting allowances during installation and the usual operational heating, ensuring that the rollers roll freely during operation and preventing stress build-up.
As an open bearing, this design has no integrated seals. The lubrication method can be selected to suit the operating conditions, for example via an existing oil circuit or by filling with grease during assembly. The housing design should incorporate suitable sealing elements, such as shaft seals.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees. This range is determined by the dimensional stability of the rings and rollers, as well as the TVP2 polyamide cage. To ensure trouble-free operation, the lubricant used must also be suited to the respective operating temperature.
