The NJ324 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing from FAG Wälzlager is a single-row support bearing with a polyamide cage, designed for shafts with a diameter of 120 mm under heavy radial loads.
The NJ324 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing with a cylindrical bore, designed for demanding applications in mechanical and plant engineering. With key dimensions of a 120 mm bore, 260 mm outside diameter and 55 mm width, this design can withstand high radial forces. The open bearing complies with the standard tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1) and has a standard radial clearance. Thanks to the removable inner ring, the bearing rings can be fitted separately with ease.
This rolling bearing is primarily used where strong radial forces act on the shaft and single-sided axial guidance is required. As a support bearing, the NJ design absorbs axial forces from one direction whilst compensating for linear movement in the opposite direction. Typical applications include bearing arrangements subject to thermal shaft expansion. Thanks to its open design, the bearing can be flexibly connected to an external lubrication supply or a housing oil bath.
The version with a polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers quietly and with low friction within the bearing assembly. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The inner ring, which can be withdrawn from one side, facilitates assembly and ensures a precise fit within the housing. As the outer ring is manufactured without a lubrication groove or lubrication bore, the lubricant is supplied axially via the housing side. It should be noted that the axial force must always be directed towards the fixed edge of the inner ring.
This roller bearing has an internal bore of 120 mm, an external diameter of 260 mm and a width across flats of 55 mm. These dimensions correspond to the standardised main dimensions for single-row cylindrical roller bearings. Thanks to tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), the component fits dimensionally accurately onto cylindrical shaft seats.
As a thrust bearing, the NJ design features two solid flanges on the outer ring and one solid flange on the inner ring. This enables the bearing to reliably support axial forces from one direction. At the same time, the open flank compensates for axial displacement of the shaft, thereby preventing mechanical stress during operation.
The polyamide cage in this design dampens running noise during operation and reduces the weight of the rolling element set. The material has low friction and is suitable for an operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. Care must be taken to ensure compatibility with the lubricants used.
As this bearing is supplied without seals and without a lubrication groove in the outer ring, it requires external lubrication. You can operate the bearing using either grease or oil. The lubricant is fed axially to the rollers via the housing side. Protect the bearing housing from dirt.
Normal radial bearing clearance refers to the standard radial clearance between the rollers and raceways when the bearing is unloaded. This bearing clearance is sufficient for typical fit conditions and operating temperatures. When the bearing heats up, the material expands in a controlled manner without causing any undesirable jamming.
In the NJ design, the inner ring can be removed from one side. This separable design makes installation considerably easier: the inner and outer rings can be fitted separately onto the shaft and housing. When assembling, take care not to damage the rollers and flanges by tilting them.
