The FAG NJ2224 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing offers high radial load-carrying capacity with dimensions of 120 × 215 × 58 mm and functions as a support bearing with single-sided axial guidance.
The FAG NJ2224 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing that withstands high radial loads whilst maintaining a compact design. As a support bearing, the inner ring guides the shaft in the axial direction, whilst the opposite side compensates for axial displacement. With a bore of 120 mm, an outer diameter of 215 mm and a width of 58 mm, this open roller bearing is suitable for bearing arrangements subject to high radial forces and requiring axial length compensation.
This single-row roller bearing is used when high radial loads act on the bearing location and, at the same time, axial forces must be accommodated in one direction. The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the removable inner ring. As a result, the bearing provides axial support to the shaft on one side, whilst axial displacement in the opposite direction remains possible. As an open bearing, lubrication with oil or grease is provided via the surrounding housing.
The solid brass cage (designation M1) guides the cylindrical rollers and provides mechanical strength against vibrations or shock loads. In conjunction with standard radial clearance, this design complies with tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1). The specified operating temperature range is from -30 to +150 degrees. As the inner ring is removable from one side, the inner and outer rings can be fitted separately.
With an internal diameter of 120 mm, an external diameter of 215 mm and a total width of 58 mm, the bearing complies with the standardised main dimensions. These values define the installation space on the shaft and housing. The outer ring is designed without a lubrication groove or bore, so that lubricant is supplied from the side.
In its NJ configuration, the bearing absorbs radial loads and transmits axial forces in one direction. To this end, the outer ring has two solid flanges, whilst the inner ring has one solid flange. The inner ring can be removed from one side, which allows both bearing rings to be fitted separately.
This version is fitted with a solid brass cage, identified by the suffix M1. Brass is characterised by its strength, wear resistance and thermal stability. The component reliably guides the rolling elements under dynamic loads, high accelerations or vibrations.
The bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance. This parameter describes the radial clearance between the rollers and the inner and outer rings when the bearing is unloaded. The design is tailored to standard fit conditions and standard operating temperatures in order to prevent the rolling elements from seizing up when the bearing heats up.
The specified temperature range is from -30 to +150 degrees. The actual operating limit of the bearing is determined not only by the durability of the rolling elements and the brass cage, but above all by the temperature resistance of the lubricant used in the housing.
As the bearing is manufactured without integrated seals, sealing is provided by the surrounding housing structure. External sealing elements, such as shaft seals or labyrinth seals, protect against dirt and moisture and keep the lubricant within the bearing housing.
