The SKF NJ2211 ECP/C3 cylindrical roller bearing (55x100x25 mm) acts as a support bearing, accommodating high radial forces and unilateral axial loads with increased bearing clearance.
The SKF NJ2211 ECP/C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing designed for industrial drive and machinery applications. With key dimensions of a 55 mm bore, 100 mm outside diameter and 25 mm width, this design is particularly suitable for high radial loads. Thanks to its optimised internal design and lightweight polyamide cage, the bearing runs with low friction on shaft guides. Design and maintenance engineers use this open roller bearing when defined tolerances and standardised dimensions are required in mechanical engineering.
The NJ design acts as a support bearing under high radial loads and guides the rotating shaft in an axial direction. Two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring absorb unilateral guiding forces, whilst allowing free axial movement in the opposite direction. The inner ring can be removed from one side for assembly, which significantly simplifies the separate fitting of the inner and outer rings in practice.
The designation ECP stands for an optimised internal design with a polyamide cage, designed for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The C3 specification refers to a slightly increased radial bearing clearance. This increased operating clearance prevents the rolling elements from seizing if temperature differences arise between the rings during operation or if tight fits reduce the bearing clearance after press-fitting.
With an internal diameter of 55 mm, an external diameter of 100 mm and a width of 25 mm, the bearing has standardised main dimensions. This geometry allows for precise integration into housings and onto shafts with suitable bearing seats. Connecting parts should be checked for dimensional accuracy and cleanliness prior to installation.
In this design, the support bearing guides a shaft in the axial direction, whilst the opposite side compensates for axial length changes. To this end, the outer ring has two fixed flanges and the inner ring has one fixed flange. To simplify assembly, the inner ring can be removed separately from one side.
The slightly increased radial bearing clearance (C3) provides additional operating clearance to accommodate thermal differences between the shaft and the housing. Even with tight fits, the rolling elements retain their smooth running characteristics, as the radial clearance effectively prevents the rollers from becoming jammed during operation.
Thanks to its low weight, the polyamide cage reduces inertial forces during rapid speed changes and operates quietly. The material reliably dampens vibrations within the permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius, whilst retaining its dimensional stability.
As there are no integrated seals, the lubricant is supplied via the surrounding housing in the form of grease or oil. External housing seals protect the raceways from dirt and moisture. As there are no lubrication grooves or holes in the outer ring, the lubricant must be supplied from the side.
The dimensional accuracy complies with tolerance classes P0 and PN, or ABEC 1 respectively. The running accuracy meets the tighter class P6, or ABEC 3 respectively. This specification ensures precise, low-vibration concentricity in industrial machinery applications.
